Hi guys,
I just thought I'd share some good news with you :p
I have to give you a brief background first though ahha
In Nova Scotia there are 3 YMCA/Community Services Res camps. Each of them have weeks of campers aged 8-12 and 13-16 and a week of adults with special needs. One of the camps (Glasgowhead) has what's called 'special week' which is a week where children with special needs (mental and physical) get to come to camp.
Well in my end of summer report this year, I suggested that Aitebreagh (that's my camp) get a special week too, because the need is clearly there. And the coordinator of camping services has informed me that we're going to get one!!!
I am soooo excited, we only take as many campers as there are counselors that week so that each person gets one-on-one care.
I "lent" one of my counselors last summer to Glasgowhead for special week and he camp back a changed man, it was such an amazing experience for him that he became SUCH a better counselor!
I thought you'd all be happy for me and my staff! haha
And also, if anyone wants to suggest programs that I can pass along to my AD that would be awesome too :o

Hey YURocks,
Thanks! Thats a nice thing to say :)
hmmm, the kind of programs I'm looking for are ones that are adaptable.
Games, Arts and crafts, stuff that any camper would want to do, just as long as we can adapt them to each campers physical and mental abilities.
