As some of you may know, I am planning a camp staff reunion for Girl Scouts of Utah this summer. I have some ideas for activities, but not enough. Does anyone have suggestions for activities for an overnight event for former camp staff of all ages? So far, this is what I have:

* Make a scrapbook page about your experience as camp staff
(the book will stay at camp)
* Waterfront (canoeing, swimming, etc)
* Woodcookies (a tradition at my camp -name tags painted on a
"slice" of wood with a hole drilled in it)
* Hike around the lake
* Trading Post (buy camp stuff)
* Campfire program

We will have a 3 hour program block before dinner on the first night, with campfire program scheduled as evening entertainment after dinner, and a 3 hour program block the next morning which includes breakfast.

I really need more ideas, and you guys are my best resource!!

Thanks for your help,
Marzzie

What about a sort of ice breaker that focuses on the stuff you learned (and rememberd) about the camp/staff rather than leaning/getting to know you?

I am pretty sure there are loads of ice breakers that could be converted, just can't think of any right now!

What about a campfire snack? Have an ongoing, drop in campfire to make s'mores at - this could happen during the day so as not to detract from a campfire program later on.

Our campers always love camp trivia hunts - we send them off with a bunch of questions about camp and or staff. "What staff member has been at camp the longest? Who is the Dining Hall named for?" They LOVE trying to find all the answers. I bet you could generate some great questions about the history of camp or well-known staff.

For our reunion next year, we talked about doing a camp timeline - putting up years on the walls around the DH and having former camp and staff add an index card about the history of camp - "This was the year the bathroom stalls were named..." "This was the year the Waterfront Director stopped living in the shed outside the garage." "This was the year Headin' Up was squashed by a tree..." Then all those facts would be compiled to help make up the "interesting" history of camp.

What about one of those time capsule things? You can do it every year and can dig it up after so many to see what people put in it. Just an idea..

These ideas are great. I especially like the time-line idea.

I think we are also going to do a sunrise hike.

Anyone else have ideas for this event?

The hike is a great idea! People will really want activities where they can chat with people and catch up on what is going on. I also loved the timeline idea, that sounds fun.

Random ideas for you ...

Some kind of themed event could be fun.
Show a slideshow of photos from the summer with cool background music
Giant competition (ultimate frisbee, rubber chicken bucket ball, etc)
Camp wide scavenger hunt/treasure hunt (could focus on what you know about staff members)
Create an art project that can stay at the camp (poster, paint a wall, banner, outdoor sculpture, etc) - could have a nice plaque made up that says "Donated by the Staff of 2006" etc
Plant a tree - have staff write their memories of the summer, what they learned, what they are taking away and put it in a hole. Plant a tree in the hole. Every year they return they can see their tree growing - we do this at the end of the season and every year staff come back to see how their tree is growing.
... Good luck and have fun!
