I'm running a one day "Theme Day" (the theme is T.V. shows) (day camp) in October, and I need some more ideas for two of the activities. The girls are aged 9-12. Each session is only an hour long, so they can't be terribly intense activities. Also, you may read through these activities and think "that seems like a sufficient number of activities"; in that case, tell me that, too, please! :D

The one activity is Bill Nye The Science Guy, and the activities I have so far are:
-Bottle of Coke + drop mentos in bottle = gyser STAND BACK and watch! (takes a minute, and the girls only watch once)
-Building boats that you can get from one end of the pool (a metre long kiddie pool) to the other using string, popsicle/ice lolly sticks, coffee filters, tape
-Rockets – waterbottle, cork, vinegar, baking soda, paper towels, safety glasses (challenge to put the ingredients in, and put the cork on for 10 seconds before it blows)

The other activity is Fear Factor:
-Blindfolded obstacle course – have an array of items laid out on the grass. One girl gets blindfolded and her team has to direct her where to go (so she doesn't hit anything) by talking to her from the sidelines. To make it harder, have more teams, going different directions through the course.
-Paint your name on your own forehead without a mirror
-Have a friend feed you pudding while you’re both blindfolded, then switch.

THANK YOU ALL! ANY FEEDBACK IS 100% APPRECIATED!

We did an iron chef cookout type program, where the kids made their own pizzas and sundaes.

I actually have a cooking session already, but thank you! All the sessions are: Fun Food Frenzy (cooking), Animal Planet (animal demonstration), Fear Factor, Makeover Orenda (painting - Orenda is the camp), TSN: Archery, Bill Nye the Science Guy (science), All the Right Games (wide/team games), Art Attack (soapstone jewelery).

I just think I need more ideas for those two sessions - Fear Factor and Science! Thanks!

Depending on the size of your camp, you may struggle to get through everyone doing all of these in an hour (especially if you have competitive kids in the blindfolded maze). However, there is no such thing as having too many activities ready to go just in case.

For science, you could always go to the old standby of sucking an egg in a bottle.

Maybe an "Amazing Race" style orienteering course?

you could do a double dare type of activity if you remember that show or you can go see what it was

The camp is over and done with, but thank you!
