going back to my thread on evals, one of my weaknesses this summer was creating and implementing creative programs for kids (both for my cabin and down on the docks)... what worked for your cabin group/unit/camp and where do you get your ideas from?

I don't think it will be much help, but a lot of the thigns I do with the kids comes from my memories fromt he past of what we used to do. I find the best thing is to have the kids tell you what they want to do and take some time and try to combine 2 of the ideas together. It gets rather creative combining capture the flag with soccer or anything else like that and it doesn't just have to be sports.

Most of our camper sign up for specific program, for example chocolate chef, so much of our programming has to come from the program expectations, we then have general expectations such as having an overnight - away from the unit and 3 "cook-outs" away from the unit - but these can include S'mores at a camp fire! Once all the things that are planned for us or the things we plan before the girls arrive - boating, climbing, swimming and showers - we do "girl/adult planning" - in this the girls come up with ideas as to what they want to do during the session and we try put as many of them into the schedule as possible!
