Rather than everyone starting their own thread to say they are home here is a general I'm back thread!
So everyone let us know when you get back so we can get this forum out of the summer slump!

like i said yesterday...i'm back and NOT happy about it. i had an incredible summer it surpassed last summer by soooo much.
I got home this morning. I had to leave camp at 5:30 to do it. One of my housemates for the summer left a letter for me in my purse. I pretty much balled my eyes out when I read it. The people on the train must of thought I was crazy. But after what I went threw this summer..... I know I can handel anything

So you did have un this summer. I have ears that said you had an intresting summer.. What happend with the buddy chips?
OH! Worst session of my life. I was so close to quiting. Buddy chips would randomly end up on the board. The first time it happened I didnt send the kids out to go swimming cause it was to cold. So everyone goes to line up for lunch and Kim comes to me and is all I went down to get my watch and bla bla bla's chip is on the board..... well I was talking to that girl at the time and she was like I put it on the cabin board..... a few other times peoples chips would end up on the board after we called all clear but it was always someones chip who was at land skill periods... untill one g-swim. We went threw one buddy check fine and the next one we had two dubbles and one triple in blue water insted of the one dubble and two tripple we had up on the board. Which amazes me cause Mike G and I never left the buddy board. So I call a search and the girls chip that was up on the board was up at the picknic tables fully clothed brading someones hair. So I had a break down cause I had my hand on the air horn like 3 other times that day. Then Billy got mad at me for that. So later that week one of the other Program directors and I were on make out patrol and we check the waterfront and boat house and stuff all the chips are in their place. That next morning, I go down to open the waterfront and the air horn is sitting on the railing to the boat house with a note wrtten in super sloppy hand writing "Enie meanie mineie mo, one is missing yes or no" and there were 6 buddy chips put on the board. So all that was done was doors with locks were put on the cabin board. I think it should have been handled differently.
The good things that happened totaly outweigh the bad things that happened though. I dont think I'm going to get re-hired next year although I would love to come back. The only stuff I ever heard was what I was doing wrong. I just dont know where to start when looking for a new camp.

kiwicrb- i am VERY happy that i took the job and did it because i loved being assistant grouphead, it opened up a lot of doors for me not to mention that it probably gave me a leg up when it came to choosing people to be in color war (i was chosen!) however, i did NOT like the little kids at all and i don't think i'll do it again. i'm much more into the 11, 12, 13 year old age group than the 7, 8, 9 year olds. haha. so hopefully next summer i'll either get my old girls back (although that's highly unlikely b/c they'll be seniors and usually a million people want seniors) or get the 6th or 7th graders. the little kids were the one thing that kept my summer from being absolutely perfect...but i guess it's good b/c it leaves room for improvement next summer!! haha!

Melk-I am sorry that you had a hard summer. I have to say there has been some big changes at your camp over the last few years and I am still not sure if they are for the good. Keep you head up and you will find where you belong. Good luck!

I'm home. I had a very interesting summer. It was filled with a lot of ups and downs. I had a blast overall though. It wasn't my best summer ever, but I think I've set some things up for next year to make it great.

I just got back from camp this morning. It was a looooong summer - there were a ton of problems down on the docks that I truly did not anticipate. I will certainly post a much longer post later but needless to say, I am back, and very much looking forward to getting this board rocking again.

I am back. I was actually back and forth all summer. Had a great time - took a group of girls White Water rafting - looks like that activity will be back next year. It was a HUGE success. My daughter wants to be at camp for the whole summer next year, so it looks like I will be volunteering for the whole summer. I will be quite busy this year as I was aske to be the director of the camps 40th reunion. I am pretty excited. Just to be able to wee all the people who were staff long ago is going to be fantastic.

I was done with camp on Aug.17th but booked my plane home for the 18th so I was the last councelor left , needless to say it was rather depressing to have nothing to do an an empty camp to look at. I had an amazing summer an was so excited because I got to hang out last night with some of my international couselor friends now that I live in Brooklyn.
I moved in last saturday... not much of a break period but camp is worth it.

I am once again home. I spent the weekend at camp, lifeguarding for family camp for one of the synagogues. SUch fun, especially since the weather was nasty.
Back to reality tomorrow, which means I hope there will be a TON more posts on here.

I've been back for a while now. I was working day camp so it wasn't like I actually left, but did not have time to stop by here.
