Not sure who's left here, but for those of you who are still stopping by, I'm off to camp today! Don't worry though, I'll be back this evening. (I work at a day camp remember.) Well I never thought this day would come. I leave in a half hour for the bus. And of course, like tradition has it, it's a rainy first day. Our camp seems to have bad luck with that, as most summers will start with a rainy day. Oh well. We're still going to have fun!

First day wasn't too bad. We have a new bus driver this year so she was pretty late to all the stops. Most of the bunk was there when I finally got there. It was raining in the morning so we didn't really do a whole lot the first two periods. Lunch was fine. We were able to do the rest of the activities. By the end of the day I knew most of the kids' names (about 10-12 kids).

The best moment of my day was when one of my kids from two summers ago got the biggest smile on his face when he saw me. It's been two years since I've been his counselor and he still got so excited to see me! I really liked that. And yes, I was happy to see him too.

Hopefully tomorrow it won't rain and also hopefully my bus will get there on time. I like greeting the kids in the morning. Obviously can't do that when we're late. :P

So Dave what has the week been like?

The week hasn't been too bad so far. The biggest problem with the kids is that some of them don't listen. We tried telling them plenty of times but our messages go in one ear and out the other. We even got our division head to talk to them. I don't think that helped much either. There also seems to be a bit of rough-housing happening. We told the kids that if someone pushes you/punches you/whatever to tell a counselor. Some of them do that now, but not all of them. Oh well.

As for the staff, it's kind of hard for me. For the past two summers I've had four counselors in my bunk. This summer I only have three (which is actually normal). I'm adjusting to it, and it's getting easier. I'm just not used to not having that 4th person to help out.
