... And I can use all the advice I can get!

I got hired this week very last minute to fill a director's position. The camp sounds great - it's for 8-11 yr olds, co-ed, consists of 3 sessions, each two weeks long. The first week is a "day camp", and the second week, the kids will be taken to the campsite for a week of real camp adventure!

I'm very excitied to be returning to camp after being gone for two summers. I am a little nervous though. Previously, I was an assistant camp counselor at a Girl Scout camp. Although I feel pretty confident in my ability to be a good director, I just hope I can learn all I need to before camp starts. Any advice you have would be more than welcomed. Thanks! :D

Congrats on getting that position Orion! Welcome to the site too. :D There might be a few camp directors here who might be able to give you some advice. :)

Orion,
When I first started working at my camp, I was beyond nervous. I can't imagine how you feel...theres so much more responsibility, and it is a totally diffferent kind of situation. But in similarity, I learned that I just needed to relax. It was so much fun, and I am back again this year. I worried way more than I should have. I know you said you are pretty confident, just stick with that. Keep that in the back of your head all the time, and everything will be great. I have heard numerous times how much my director loves the job. No worries! Have fun!
