A thread in which you can register your disgust/boredom at revising for exams.

Personally, I'm inhabiting a Politics/Geopolitics Hell: European Identity; International Organisations; Risk Society; Nationalism; Political uses for maps etc.

:confuse: :hammer: :angry-smi

Anyone else?

I've got one on Wednesday (at 5pm!) and one on Thursday... it's not as many as some people, but they're still horrible, because I've got more riding on them!

I also just went to the shops and got me some very chocolatey ice cream, which is helping revision a great deal!

What school do you go to Daisy? I saw the KU girls (softball) win the Big 12 championship on tv yesterday.

Wichita State. That's awesome they won, but I must confess I am totally out of the loop regarding sports of any kind--Apparently, my uni did well in basketball this year, but I didn't have a clue 'till it was all over the news. oops.

yep, me too, I've been finished since April 22nd.
you could not pay me to do a class any time soon after the term I had - rather death like. My average also suffered much.

Bluh. My hardest exam is out of the way, but there's still my huge Brit Lit paper to write and two state exams to take. I am fond of 'The Picture of Dorian Gray,' but not to the point where I'm exactly keen to write many pages on its comentary on the Aesthetic movement.

*sigh*

What Brit Lit are you doing Pooka (though the chances of me having read it are pretty slim... more of a modern classics person myself!)?

Our class seems to go from the Anglo-Saxon period to the turn of the 20th century, if we're lucky. It's supposed to be a high-school senior course, but I got placed in it this year. I'm a bit peeved that the year I'll actually be a senior, the people in regular English won't have to write senior thesis papers.

Good luck with your exams, Kiwi! I'm going to be taking AP English and AP Government next year too. Huzzah.

Camper - When do you start training at camp. It seems like you still have a long time left at school. We start camp on the 3rd of June!

Hey Collissimon my course is Brit Lit this year, and let me tell you, they picked some winners. But not really.

Did you have to do any Chaucer? I did Chaucer for A Level, the Miller's Tale and it was ace!

What else did you do? 1984? I love that book!

So now that I write them down they really weren' all so bad, just a bit tedious.

Hamlet and & The Tempest - Shakespear
Tess of the D'Ubervilles - Thomas Hardy
Frankentstein - Mary Shelley
Pardise Lost - John Milton
The Collector - John Fowles
Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
Things Fall Apart - Chinua Achebe
The Power and the Glory - Graham Greene

I think that's it. The only one I really really didn't like was Tess. The Collector was way creepy and kind of makes me want to never go anywhere alone again.

Well i thought once i was done with finals i was good to graduate with my 2 yr. degree but apparently i misunderstood. I still can go to Pratt , thats not an issue. I thought since i was missing one class that i could make it up in the fall at my new school an still walk on may 22nd. this monday i found out that i was only allowed to walk if i took the course this summer .... so since not going to camp isn't even an option , I've got to get an online course approved by our addmisions director who went egypt .....the registrar sent her an email with the course description and an explanation of the situation today ....Now all I can do is wait...:( (sorry for the rant but this was the last thing i needed after finals )

ArtisticEric --- I really hope it works out for you. That is a bummer. Just remember that you'll probably enjoy the fond memories of camp more than graduation, or at least I would.

On a side note, how does a 4.0 not warrent a scholarship? Oh well, here's to a heaping pile of loans.

That sucks Eric! I'm sure it'll work itself out though.

Kiwi,
What was Hamlet like? I had to read Othello and The Duchess of Malfi by John Webster. The latter especially was excellent!

I read the Heights, which I really enjoyed reading, but didn't like studying it.

Have you read 1984 by Orwell? It's awesome! It really blew me away.

KiwiCRB

Hamlet was good if you like Shakespear... which I really don't. We watched the movie with Mel Gibson and that was good lol. I've never read 1984, it didn't make it's way on to our reading list this year. Reading Wuthering Heights was tough because my english teacher wrote her thesis on the Bronte sisters and spent some serious time in England researching them. She's read the book over 30 times so needless to say there is no faking allowed on that one.

man, we read so many books by English authors.
I hated hated hated wuthering heights. What a waste of paper!
Liked Frankenstein. Liked it better when we found the movie that was word for word from the book! ;)
