Letters from Camp is a series (http://www.talkcamp.com/showthread.php?t=652) of fictional letters from 'Camper', an eleven-year-old writing home to his parents about his first summer at camp. He is in the youngest unit, aged between 10-12 years old.

Dear Dad,

We’ve had the best morning! I’m really glad letter writing is today, because I get to tell you all about it!

First we had Food with Maria, who’s Irish, which means she speaks differently from Simon and Kev because they’re from England. We made Apple Crumble, which is kind of like Apple Sauce with crunchy cake on top. We all got to mix our own crumble and chop some apples, all making jokes at the same time. Then it went in the oven and we will eat it after dinner (which Simon calls tea! We always tell him off!)

Then we had Yoga, with a different Maria, who’s from Canada, so she doesn’t sound that different. We have to sit on blankets on the grass, and Maria told us this game, where you have to go up to each person, and say ‘If you love me Honey, please, please smile’, and you had to reply ‘I’m sorry Honey, you know I do love you, but I just can’t smile’. I know it sounds boring, but we could use lots of different silly voices and faces to get other people to smile. Maria tried to do a French accent, which was kind of funny, and Simon did his demon grandma voice which made some of us laugh. They were both really bad when they couldn’t smile though!

I’ve got to go, I hope we have a good afternoon too!

Camper

Sorry it took so long! I'll wait a couple of days and then post the penultimate installment!

Maybe we could include it in the newsletter.
