The 45th Legion Athletic Camp, straddling the North Dakota/Manitoba border at the International Peace Garden, is now accepting applications for various summer positions.
The nonprofit camp, which operate from July 16 - August 26, 2006, offers a total of 12 sports: basketball, advanced and beginners track and field, cycling, elementary, equestrian, gymnastics, judo, sailing, soccer, volleyball and wilderness.
The camp - www.legionathleticcamp.com - is open to junior and senior high school athletes and for some sports elementary grades.
Athletes - up to 1,300 - come from all areas of the world.
Over the years, the Legion camp has hosted numerous other sports including cycling, fastball, football, karate, lacrosse, rhythmic gymnastics, rugby, team handball, weight lifting and others.
We are currently looking for both male and female in the following positions.
Dorm deans - must be at least 21 years of age - and be able to attend at least seven days of camp. You receive an honorarium along with camp jacket/t-shirt and all meals and accommodations. Duties include dorm supervision at nighttime and daytime when athletes in dorms. Gas allowance also depending on distance traveled.
Task force staff - must be at least 18 years of age - and be able to attend at least four weeks minimum of camp. You receive an honorarium along with camp jacket/t-shirt and all meals and accommodations. Gas allowance also depending on distance traveled. Duties include canteen, work crew, grounds work, janitorial.
Coaching Although our coaching is set we are always expanding our territory and looking for new talent(s) for current and future years. You receive an honorarium along with camp jacket/t-shirt and all meals and accommodations. Gas allowance also depending on distance traveled. Our present coaching staff rank from grassroots to university to professional and Olympic. Coaches usually attend one-week session for selected sport.
HandymenIn the areas of plumbing, heating, carpentry, small fix-ups. Area includes major sportsplex, canteen, admin building, equestrian barn and corrals, several dorms, staff cabins etc. You receive an honorarium along with camp jacket/t-shirt and all meals and accommodations. Gas allowance also depending on distance traveled. Looking for at least minimum two weeks attendance.
