I'm from Texas, but not from any of those areas....we are a very large state with alot of things to do....San Antonia definately go to the River Walk and The Alamo....those things are important. Dallas/Fort Worth Metro area....there are so many things to do there....Hurricane Harbor (water park) and Six Flags Over Texas....those are a few ideas.....

I’ve been meaning to pm you this but I’ll just do it here incase anyone else ever visits Texas.
While in Texas you must eat some good BBQ and some good Tex-mex (Mexican). Prepare to be amazed. It’ll be hot, bring shorts and sun screen for those that are fair skinned. We love our iced sweet tea so if you want yours hot like you’re used to... you might have to carry your own. I, like vnich, am not from the areas you asked about so these are just the standard touristy spots you might want to hit.
San Antonio
- Alamo (learn the history sometime, it's very cool)
- River Walk
- Sea World (bit on the expensive side)
- Ripley's Haunted Adventure (haven't been but it's close to the Alamo)
- San Antonio zoo (I went once when I was little, but I don't really remember it, I guess it's pretty cool)
Dallas/ Fort Worth
- SHOPPING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's all anyone from this area goes to Dallas for.
- Fort Worth Zoo
- Six Flags/ Hurricane Harbor
- Cowboy Hall of Fame (Might be lame... who knows.... but cowboys are pretty awesome)
- Texas Stadium (see how Americans play football)
Austin
- State Capital (if you can't see the nation's capital this one is pretty darn cool)
- UT Tower (Charles Whitman shot and killed 13 people from the top in 1966, it is now closed to the public, but still pretty cool)
- Hippies. (Keep Austin weird haha.)
Galveston
- The Beach (It’s the gulf so be prepared to deal with seaweed and murky water)
- The Strand (shopping and restaurants)
- Historic District (amazing houses and buildings that weren’t destroyed by the Hurricane of 1900
- Moody Gardens (3 pyramids, you can’t miss them)
- Schiltterban (It’s new. I just know it’s there.)
- Boat or bike tour (you’ll find info. while you’re there, I promise)
Houston (so you might not be around anything I mention because Houston is ridiculously huge, like woah)
- Kemah Boardwalk (Ferris wheel overlooking the ocean)
- Johnson Space Center (Houston, we have a problem)
- For the Fourth of July I would recommend Chevy’s Freedom Over Texas at Eleanor Tinsley Park

I had a few friends from the UK come and visit me almost 2 years ago during the summer and they almost died it was so hot. They both got burned just walkin around. So if you are scheduling outdoor activites try to do it when the sun is going down. They got a big kick out of Texas culture though. The loved the Space Center a lot. (I am in Houston) And I took them to some local hometown pubs to get that true Texas feeling (if you are of age the Alabama IceHouse is about as Texan as you get, Big or Little Woodrows is more fun with a Texas side to it). Theres some good museums, if you like those, Natural History has the dinosaurs which are my favorite. You could also try to catch an Astros game, baseball fever definitely takes over Houston during the summer, and they are doing good this year. Get tickets in advance though. The Galleria is like the largest mall you will ever see in your life if you like shopping. The place scares me but people come from all around to go.
Austin is by far my favorite place in Texas so far. I am drawn to all the hippies :) Try to see some live music (its the live music capital of the world), take walks down by the water. They have great music stores, random stores, clothes stores. UT campus is beautiful to walk around, the staduim is giant. On days when the UV index is real high they run all their public buses for free. How cool is that. If you are looking for nightlife then you pretty much just walk down 6th street- you'll find a million places that rock.
Have fun!
