I need your opionon. Do you think it's odd I'm getting two credits this summer for going to camp? You see, when I changed schools I got screwed over majorly and became behind 4 credits, which I would have to make up in 2 1/2 years. Now of course I can't take summer school because of camp, but I have been taking independent courses which has helped too. Now after this summer I will be going into my senior year and still am short a bit. My school has given me the chance to make it up this summer. One in P.E because of all the physical activity and another one for Sociology. Now the only thing I have to do for Sociology is keep a journal and summurize each week and see if I can compare behavior of those around me to any theories I learned during the school year. Hopefully after this summer I will be able to be caught up and graduate in June of 07!!

Jeez-- I wish I could get credits for going to camp! Maybe if I write a memoir of the summer for English...? Nah. Awesome that your school's letting you do that, though.
Blah. I'm probably going to have a pile of Advanced Placement homework to do this summer at camp. (Again!) It's maddening.

Our camp gives out college credits for being a counsellor. I don't have that opportunity, but I know one of the tennis counsellors, who's doing education, takes advantage of it yearly. I think its a great idea! I was actually considering taking a distance course from a college near my camp so I can stay on top of my work, and one of my good friends did a distance course while at camp.

Wow... Your school is super nice!! I had a friend who took dist. ed. at camp last summer, and she hated it. Every spare minute she was working her butt off, and she had to find time to mail assignments, etc. And another girl was studying his buns off for her MCAT's (insane medical pre-school exam), and it was driving her to insanity! But yeah, wow. I wish going to camp counted for school (the school that i'm not enrolled in).
Oh, hey.. I just thought of something.. I'm going to school in Sept. for Developmental Services Worker... Maybe camp can count for a placement/practical, which is like half of the program! And my camp would be the same sort of work as that.. Hmm.. (no reply needed - just thinking "outloud") ;)

My camp will help with academic work too. They offer help with placements for nurses and social workers, and will give references for academics as well. I know the Science specialist next year is basing some of her thesis on teaching at camp.

Colliss,
if that's the case, I may be applying to your camp, since i will need to complete two or three practica for my program.

Rach,
I can't see it would be a problem, as long as it was all arranged beforehand...

I know my camp gives credit for camp. All you have to do is talk to the director before hand to make arraingements.

Melk, I know, but even the normal/good behaviors can be put into a sociology theories, without even realizing. it.
