Anthony Horowitz is a good'un... and I loved China Mieville's Un Lun Dun: like a modern day Alice in Wonderland... but far too long to read to the kids, I'd check it out yourself though!

my brother (9) enjoys Horrid Henry books! I havn't actually read storys to campers before they all read their own books but its a good idea I may try :)

I hope the children won't force me to read them, becasue I'm afraid they wouldn't enjoy my strange Eastern-European accent during a fairy-tale:)

The Horrid Henry ones read quite well!

Don't worry about reading: if you're not very confident you won't have to, but maybe you can read with someone else, and just do one character? Team reading is a LOT of fun!

Or if the campers are old enought to be confident reading out loud you get them to do it.
