View Full Version : Should I be worried?

I'm getting a little worried about my camp application. I applied through BUNAC and had my interview at the end of November and they accepted me on to the programme, but I've yet to hear anything from a camp or BUNAC

Does anyone know how long these things normally take? They said that I'd know before the end of May, which seems a ridiculous time to leave it till, as that gives me about a fortnight to get myself organised / visa-ed etc and it doesn't really give one chance to actually consider an offer that late to the date.

I might just be paranoid here, but if any one who has done the international thing before- or any camp directors wish to reassure me, it would be very welcome!

You might want to look at some of the other camp programs like CCUSA! Good luck.

I would phone BUNAC and ask what has happened with your application, just make sure chase them up. I heard back quite quickly, they could have misplaced your application, so it's best to see what they've got to say.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be fine.

As a Rep for CCUSA Down Under, we ALWAYS tell our applicants that there is the possibility that you camp placement can come through as late as May. The reason being we can't control how long it takes for a camp to hire you. Your app might go out to 5-10 camps before the right camp picks you.
I would call up and see what is going on because it is bad business that you haven't heard from them since November, they still should be sending you updates!

Best of Luck!

Ok update:
I phoned BUNAC, who told me not to worry, my application is not lost and they kinda said the same thing as s r star- that it may go to lots of camps, who all take their time considering it and so finding a placement may take a couple of months. Apparantly this is especially true of people who want to be general counsellors as they try and fill specialist positions first (whether this is true or not i don't know!)

Well i'm reassured, but it's not gonna stop me racing down the stairs when i hear the postman!

thanks for the wishes of luck guys- i'll keep you posted!

Good luck :) I'm sure you'll get a camp before you know it, and will forget the wait a couple of summers down the line!!

Good luck! I think that you should just make sure that if you don't here from them give them a call at the end of each month to make sure that you are still on the top of the pile of camp information. You can do a just checking call!
