Hello everyone,
I thought this would be a good chance to network some great program ideas for this summer. I am always looking to use creative and fun programs for the coed overnight camp I am program director for. I want to see if we can get a good list of program ideas that we can all use for help this summer. I'll start us off with some programs I have done in the past as Mass Programs and All Camp Programs. Number of participants are 225-250 for each of these not including staff members.
We have done in the last several summers the following programs at Camp Seneca Lake :) (NY):
Monopoly, Summer Olympics, Reality of Camp, Survivor, Counselor Hunt, Casino Night, Revenge of the Campers, Risk, Back to the Future, Harry Potter, Double Dare and more that I cant think of right now. Wow I am really excited for the summer. Can we skip March, April, and May?
Let the sharing begin!

Our camp is working on a weekend event based on Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and it's going to be absolutley amazing. I can't be there because i'm going to a campus preview... real sad. But anyway they're planning some really fun things... taffy pulls... golden egg hunts... and a bunch of other things i can't thing of at the moment. For lunch on Saturday they are making meatloafs that look like muffins with colored mashed potatoes as the icing and rice crispies that look like meatloaf for desert.
*Capture the Flag
*Pinewood Idol:Each cabin picks a song and does a dance to it. We have 3 juges the winner get the golden record (a record on ply wood painted gold), a free disert, and a 20 on cabin clean up.
*Sock wars: Each camper starts of with half of an X on their arm. They have to make it to a point at the other side of camp with out getting hit by a counsleor who throughs flower filled socks. If they get hit they have to sit down and call for a medic who then finishes the X and sends the camper back to the starting point where they get another half of an X. If the campers make it all the way to the other side of camp without getting taged they get their X finished and sent back to the starting point.
*Message to garcia: Its boys against girls and the time is split in half. The staff are asigned to parts of camp with 2 paper bags labled boys and girls and sheets of scratch paper. It is the staffs job to write notes to eachother. The first half the girls try to get the notes from staff member at point A to staff member at point b without getting taged by a boy. If they are not taged the note goes in the girls bad if they are taged the note goes in the boys bag. Half way threw the game it switches so the boys are delivering the notes
*Cross Country Race: The camp is split into 4 teams each camper is asigned to one task. They must do this task without getting a match wet. The race ends at our fire ring where the first team to start a fire wins.
*Pinewood Tresure: Cabins run around camp from clue to clue doing random task. They end up getting the last clue from the bottom of our swimming area wich are kept in old milk jugs. The prise they win is every one gets icecream.
*Dance
*Mr and Mrs. Pinewood: The girl cabins draw a male counsleors name from a hat and the guy cabins draw a female counsleors name from a hat and they have like 15 min to dress that staff member up as their gender. Campers have to leave the cabin while the counsleor is changing. They can not force someone to shave anything. then we have a cross dressing beauty pagent
*Sing off: 2 cabins battle. they are given a word and have to sing 8 words (including the word given) of a song that word is in.
* LIT/CIT: As a part of their program, the LIT's and CIT's make up a game.... not fun at times.
This is all I can think of at the moment. Feel free to ask questions!

Oh gosh, we have so many but I seem to be having a brain block right now....
We do a lot of things that have already been mentioned, but a few others:
*Oregon Trail- basically just like the computer game. Cabins have to go to all spots on the trail while battling different "trail conditions."
*Name That Tune- A competition to see who can name the artist/song first, but cabins always have goofy ways of having to answer. ie, campers must lay on the floor, lock arms, and each person can only write one letter of the answer before passing it to the next person.
We also have the classic karaoke nights and dance nights, which are my fave. :)
If you want to know more about either of those games, feel free to PM me and I can explain them better. And if I think of any others, I'll post later !

This is simalar to Melk's 'Sock Wars'.
~Smugglers: Camp is divided into two teams. The entire camp is then also divided in two 'territoires'. Everybody gets a piece of paper with a dollar amount or somethign silly written on it. You hide the piece of paper any where on you you can thing of (with the exception of 'body openings' and other inapropriate places). The object of the game is to cross into the other teams territory and make it to their base with the piece of paper. However if a member of their team tags you while on their side you have to freeze and they have 3 guesses to wear you've hidden the paper. If they guess you have to give them the paper and start over again. The game can go on for a really long time depending on how many papers there are. It also gets really competative when you've got some creative people playing who think of a really good hiding spot!

My camp has a lot of unique games we do at the night.
We have a week called Super Heroes week and we have a game called Super Heroes (no figure). What happens is that each cabin gets to pick a counselor that is not theirs and we send them off for 15-20 minutes to dress up their new super hero. They are also required to make up a name and that heroes specialty power. After that time, they all report to an area, and we have a modeling show. The funniest counselor wins this subject. Then we have other things like strength, speed, trying to fly (they jump int hte lake), and other cool things like that
then the winner is the team with the most events won by counselor. Though campers don't do much they have so much fun.

We play a game called bonkers. The night before at our staff meeting, we decide who is going to be "it", and who the medics are going to be. We had the chaperones hide in differnt places around camp. The campers job was to find the chaperones and have their name tags signed. However while trying to find the chaperones the "it" people (i believe we had 5-6 "it" people) throwing wet sponges at them. If they got hit the "it" people put half an X on them and they had to stay there until the "medics" (4 people) came and finished the X then they were free to keep hunting. We played for about 30-45 minutes I think and the kids enjoyed it. We played right before swim time so it wasn't a big deal if they got completely soaked.
