That strange saying belongs to many old men in Ilkeston, Derbyshire, England; which is where i hail from. I now live not so far away from there in Nottingham, where I'm a second year student at notts uni.

I've applied to be a general counsellor / counselor (I guess I should get used to the American-English way!) with BUNAC and am just waiting for a nice letter offering me a job!!

I've never been on a 'summer camp', as they don't exist in Derbyshire, but I've been involved with Guiding since I was tiny (my mum's a leader so I went on my first camp at 18 months!) and I'm now a leader of a guide unit. Reading through some of the threads I can see all of the reasons why I love guiding- making a difference in a kid's life and the cool people I've met and jump on every couple of months. This site has made me think that this summer is going to be those things and bigger and far away! Yay!

Sorry to go on so, but now I'm introduced!

Powers :p

Hey Powers! Welcome to the site :) . I can't wait to hear how you like camp counseling compared to guiding. :D

Hey powers!

I'm from Loughborough in Leicestershire! People on the market say ey up me duck too! I study in Leeds though, so have gone into Northern territory!

It'll be my fourth year at camp, and I apply through BUNAC, so feel free to ask any questions, even if you think it's completely silly, don't worry I asked loads before I went for the first time.

I've been in Guiding since forever, too! From about age 6, to present, and I'm 18. Yay to us-lifers! Feel free to email me/msn me.

Powers - Welcome to the board.

I had the opportunity to stay at Nottingham university over Christmas - I was attending a conference actually. Stayed in Sherwood in N block, I believe. Yay Sherwood. I must say that the campus is quite gorgeous. I'm only sorry that I spent most of my time in the EMCC or running back and forth between the dormitory and Clive Granger (LOL).

Anyways, I digress.
Welcome once again.

Hey! It'll be my first time this summer too, I'm stil waiting for a placement but I applied through Camp America. (Not that I think there's much difference between them and BUNAC anyway)
The only camp experience I've ever had is one weekend with Brownies when I was small and a couple camps with Army Cadets.

Well, if you don't ask the stupid questions now, chances are I will later, people on this board seem to know what they're talking about. That's a little security there, in my opinion, anyway.

Welcome!
Nina xx
