I going to do 10 to 15 hours with some org for my Issues In Womens Studies Class. Meeting with person from Service Learning office next week. Trying to figure out a way I could relate to to my major when I tranfer which will be recreation administration. Which the community college really has no clue what it is lol!!

So I could volunteer with some of the outreach program the Girl Scout Council I work with runs posibility. But am looking for some other ideas. And thought I would ask you all. It need to be service learning project that relates to girl or women and I will have to write jurnal entrys on my experience.

What about seeing if there's a rec program for women living in shelters, or maybe you could start something?

What about working with children in the court system. I know that I have gotten the chance to do that and it’s cool to see the other side! I know that they are always looking for people to be mentors and do different types of activities with the kids!

You could do work with English as a Second Language women/children. I know in lots of places funding for programs directed at ESL people is often minimal.

I am going to be volunteering at a transitional home for homeless mothers and their children (with children age 12 and under). When they have training classes for the women in things like computers. It's right here in the town I live in and will relate well with my issues in womens studies studies class.

That sounds great. I know that it should be work but I hink that you will learn a lot as well. Fun to see the other side sometimes but you should be able to do a lot of good for these people who sometimes think that know one cares. Good luck!
