I only saw the last 20 mins :-S I think Jadine wanted to go though, because she was missing her daughter... I didn't like Jadine at the beginning, but watched the interview afterwards (NERD!) and she seemed really nice!
What do you think of psycho Katie though?
Don't forget your DS 2019 form internationals, you can't get in the country without it!

I think you are right about her wanting to go home.
My DS 2019 never comes out of my passport.
Another good thing to keep in your hand luggage is a copy of your placement letter as it will have the address of your camp and you will need that for a florm you have to fill out on the plane!

Also bring a jacket or long sleeve shirt because sometimes the mornings and evenings can be a bit chilly

Not a fan of the new castaway - i prefrred the original one.
Back on topic if you are taking your phone and it is a Nokia one, the lasttime I knew someone with a Nokia phone she had to uy a new charger as the UK ones didnt work in the US, so if thats still the case you might want to not bother with the phone charger.

The original was better, but wouldn't say no to New Zealand!!
You have to be careful with mobiles anyway... if you don't think you'd use it, then I wouldn't bother, because the US doesn't have 99% coverage like the UK. I would also put contracts on hold, and see if you can get a PAYG sim for the trip, you can get cingular ones off eBay quite cheaply.
Money!! I'm going to be trying out the new Amex travellers cheque card this year, anyone used it before?

I went to a travel agent today to get a few travelers cheques (I plan to withdraw at ATMs in the main) The woman there tired to get me to take one of those cards (I think it's called a cash passport). Every time you make a withdrawal they charge you £2.50. And they charge 2% commission when you load/reload it. My bank account is with the Nationwide and withdrawals abroad are free and visa debit transactions are too.

I also have an account with Lloyds TSB and their charges are MASSIVE. It's like 2.9% of the total amount if the withdrawal.

Sod that! Nationwide all the way!
I'm only with nationwide cos my sister and her husband work for them so they know all the good stuff for me and sort it all out for me so I dont actually need to go to banks myself and all that rubbish.
Dont know if it effects you, Laura, but thought I'd say this for you and maybe others too...
DONT FORGET YOUR INTERNET BANKING DETAILS!!
Put them in an email to yourself or something secure. Just so you have them to keep track on your debits and other charges to the account and if you need to transfer some more money into your debit account from another one you can do it pretty quickly.
