Ok so my camp has currently 5 sail boats 2 minifish and 3 snarks. this summer during pre camp i will have the opertunity to repaint them and in doing so im going to name all 5 of the boats. Im thinking of 2 color schemes 1. light blue hull /black outline and black cockpit. 2. white hull /green outline and white cockpit.
so far i have decided on only 2 names for one of the minifish and one of the snarks i need 3 more. the 2 i have so far Serenity(ship from Firefly) for the minifish and the Minnow(Giligians island) for the snark.
If you can help me with choosing a color scheme and give suggestions for names.

We are letting our campers name our fleet this summer! We have 12 Sunfish, 5 Mercuries (all named), 2 JYs, 2 Hunters and 2 new 420s. So we're holding a contest for names for each week. Each session of campers will get to name a few of the boats. We are very excited.

thats a great idea but these names wont change till the fleet is redone.

But you said that these are unnamed boats, right? (Minus the two you picked so far...) Why can't the campers come up with names for them? (I think I'm just confused!)
In our fleet, only the Mercs have names. Some of the Sunnies were numbered and two that came from another camp were named. We'll name the ones that were numbered and the JYs, Hunters, and 420s. None of those have been named, for some odd reason. (One of our Mercs, Headin' Up, got squashed by a tree this winter during a storm so I think we should name one of the other boats in memory... Lol.)

because if we let campers decide it may be seen as playing favorites in my directors mind. they would not allow our nature lady to let kids name the pets in her shop this year for that reason.

What about like fun descriptive words like Serendipity(or even a word in Hebrew like Ruach)? Or maybe the name of someone who was important to your camp that has passed away? I know you are a Jewish camp- maybe something important or someone important in Jewish history- like calling it the Maccabee or like the Hillel? I'd try to make it something that is either special to your camp or at least can apply to camp or the values your camp upholds.

I guess if you picked a specific kid and let them name it, sure... But we're treating it as a contest - girls will submit names and all the campers will vote on their favorite name during a vote at dinner one evening. No playing favorites that way! :)
I do like Serendipity though. Some of our boats' names included Headin' Up, Zephyr, Tra (short for something...), Sirocco... Everyone has their favorite. Lol.

What if you make a list of ideas before camp and let the kids vote on them?

the thing is im also not sure how long i will be able to keep a boat dry docked during the sessions.
we had a 20 foot "yacht" donated to us about 7 years ago they called it the kanish..... so i was hopeing to get names that have meaning and thanks for all the suggestions so far keep them comming.

Our camp hasnt named our Sunfish or Americans, but I might suggest we do. The yachts are named, but they belong to the Camp owner and so he named them years ago.
The Whalers are all named; Moby, Duece etc - we had a new one this year and wanted to call it Utz (a summer WF saying) but the camp wouldnt let us :(

Well, if you're going with Firefly's boat Serenity and Gilligan's boat Minnow what about Star Wars' boat Millenium Falcon with a grey and black color scheme - or red and black?
