I know we have mentioned quotes in other threads but I was wondering what are some of your favorites? They can be funny, inspirational, uplifting, anything really, from anyone. I love quotes and we use them a lot at my camp and I'm always on the prowl for ones, rather heard a million times before or uttered for the first time! Happy quoting :)

Everyone is born right-handed, but only the greatest overcome it.

~Author unknown

I always knew I'd look back on the times I cried and laugh, but I never knew I'd look back on the times I'd laughed and cry.

From the outside looking in, you can't understand it; from the inside looking out, you can't explain it.

These are my two all time favorites! I heard the first one at KeyLog the last night of camp when I was 14 and I never forgot it because it was so perfect for camp. The other was widely used in my youth organization but I graduated high school the more distant I've gotten from my youth organization, the more it reminds me of camp. I think it applies to all of us, we each have such individual summers but there's no way to explain it to someone who didn't experience it- even if that person has been to camp before. Camp gives us a special feeling like everything in the world can go right and there's no reason to question it. The feeling that we get that we belong to something is what makes this one so special to me.

When each of our CITs graduates, their "graduator" or staff member they choose to walk them from the camper to counselor side of camp, gives them a quote. One of my CITs this summer had grown up at another one of our camps that had been shut down - she was so miserable at our camp the first week. She chose a staff member that had also grown up at that camp to graduate her. It was so nice. Skip told her,

When I look around I think this, this is good. And I try to laugh at whatever life brings cause when I look down I miss all the good stuff, and when I look up I just trip over things.

It's from "As Is" by Ani DiFranco. Completely fitting and one of my absolute favorite quotes.

At camp, we all learn so much from everybody, campers and staff alike. My favorite quote is from an unknown that was written on a poster.

You have touched me---I have grown.

The last night at camp the whole staff was at camp, me and my best friend sang a song from the musical Wicked for the whole camp so this quote comes from that song:

"I’ve heard it said that people come into our lives for a reason, bringing something we must learn and we are lead to those who help us most to grow if we let them and we help them in return. Well I don’t if I believe that's true but I know I'm who I am today because I knew you"

"Don't steal. The government hates competition."

Saw that written on a counsellor's guitar case during my camper days.

Always remember to never forget.

Life would be a whole lot better if less people were afraid to lose.

Take chances. Put yourself out there. Just go for it. If you don't, the best parts of life will pass you by.

I love reading quotes. Keep them coming.

Camp is one of those special places where you instantaneously bond with
people and form life long friendships with utter and complete strangers....

Keep the Memories of Camp Fires Burning…

Remember the s'mores, the bugs, your friends, the songs…

"...So, when you juggle you need to make an X, because other wise he would only be 'spongebob square...' and he wouldn't have any pants..." - juggler guy at camp

"I realize that each year [Girl Scouts] has changed and grown until I know
that, a decade from now, even a year from now, what I might say of it would
seem like an echo of what has been instead of what is.So, today, instead of
trying to tell you what Girl Scouting means to me, I should like each of us
to ask herself, 'Where is Girl Scouting leading us?'"
-Juliette Gordon Low 1925 Birthday message

“Every badge you earn is tied up to your motto. This badge is not a reward for something you have done once or for an examination that you have passed. Badges are not medals to wear on your sleeve to show what a smart girl you are. A badge is a symbol that you have done the thing it stands for often enough, thoroughly enough, and well enough to BE PREPARED to give service in it. YOU wear the badge to let people know that you are prepared and willing to be called on because you are a Girl Scout. And Girl Scouting is not just knowing...but doing...not just doing, but being.”
-Juliette Gordon Low, Founder of Girl Scouting

Sacajawea is my hero because she showed that girls can do anything and she proved herself

Because of the Girl by Mmi Murray
Because the girl has a need, we have an obligation.
Because the girl has a choice, we must be her best choice.
Because the girl has high expectations, we must excel.
Because the girl wants to explore, we must be her guide.
Because the girl wants to belong, we must open our arms.
Because the girl is searching for directions, we must be her compass.
Because the girl encounters times of turmoil, we must be her haven.
Because the girl is tomorrow's woman, we must care today.
Because of the girl.We exist.
