crbtigger- it's so good!

I have a problem reading books that I've read before multiple times because I love them so much. Recently I read She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb again and I would recommend it to anyone who knows how to read.

Right now though I'm reading My Life by Bill Clinton, I started it like a year ago and never finished. It is very good thus far.

Is that the Dalai Lama's autobiography? That's on my to read list... I read Nelson Mandela's biography last year. It took me ages to finish, but it was really interesting.

I read the art of happiness when the Dalai Lama came to my Uni this year. Obsession is amazing but after reading John Douglass' other book i started to see the "unholy trilogy of behaviors" in all my campers. Kind of makes me paranoid at times that all my kids will become serial killers/ sex offenders

HAHA, that is totally something that happened to me. I tend unconsciously diagnose people due to my social work books. Its horrible but not as bad as serial killers. I would definitely start doing that. But I still want to read it anyway. Do you go to Stanford? I know he was there this year, I was real jealous.

The art of happiness isn't his autobiography but kinda a dual-authored book with a western psychologist. It takes the eastern/buddhist mindset (specifically the Dalai Lama's) and helps to apply it to our culture and how we can seek out happiness in ourselves. I like it because I love buddhism yet obviously I am immersed in Western culture. Plus the Dalai Lama is the happiest guy ever and his words are real comforting.

Actually I go to Rutgers. He visited this year i was lucky enough to share a meal with some of the monks who were helping prepare for his arival. Im a deeply spriitual person and being active in hillel helped me meet them. It was almost as inspiring as his speech. I hope to have the opertunity to meet him one day.

Read John Douglass' first 3 books in order Mind Hunter, Journey Into Darkness, and Obession. They are very enligntening in the mind of serial offenders.

That's really cool speedx!

You mentioned 'Hillel', and we have a 'Hillel House' at uni: does that have some Jewish significance? I ask, because one day it looked like some kind of garden party, and there were a lot of Jewish students there (well I could tell the Jewish guys, because they were wearing a kippah)

Finished "camp" by michael eisner. Great book on his experience going to summer camp and his kids and two kids he has been able to provide scholarship to go to camp to through his foundation. Now I just started Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children From Nature-Deficit Disorder. Seems like it's going to be a really good book from the indroduction I read last night.

I just started State of Fear by Michael Crichton today. I got it as a gift two years ago when it first came out, read the first 50 pages and never picked it up again. I started re-reading it again today though because I had nothing else to do. It's pretty good.

Well my guess is that unabridged doesn't have anything cut out while the childern's does.

Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire.

AHHH I LOVED that book! It was an AMAZING sequel to WICKED (although I'll be the first to admit I'm more than a little WICKED obsessed!) The ending it sooooooooo good, I screamed! Let me know how you enjoyed it!

For school I recently read The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. It was good, very unexpected ending!

Over Christmas Vacation I also read the Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants books (surprisingly enjoyable, I thought they'd be geared to a much younger audience but they had some good themes that provoked contemplation). I also read 'Tis, and 2 novels by Jodi Picoult, Vanishing Acts and Second Glance. I would highly recommend her to anyone. She is quite the talented author, she does a lot of research for her books too so you can tell they're very accurate.

I'm reading Shake Hands With the Devil by Romeo Dallaire.

It's not a book you can read all in one shot, becuase its on such heavy an ddistirbing material, so I'm reading it over a long period of time.

Sparkle, Good choice! I read it over winter break, after exams. It was so well written, but I agree, very heavy on the disturbing stuff.

BTW, where in Canada do you live?

I got bored of Silver Chair already! I'm re-reading the Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett.
