Last night and this morning, I worked on giving every article its own page on the website. If you click on the Camp Articles link up top, you'll notice it takes you to a different page now. That's the new articles section of the site. I did this so hopefully we can move up more in the search engines, nothing else is really intended. Well anyway, if you click on that link, you'll notice the list of articles is off to the right. Just click on any of them to read the article. Each page lists the title of the article, its author(s), the article itself, and a link to discuss the article (which is just the article's thread in the articles forum).

This doesn't change the way you submit articles. You still submit them the usual way, but now they'll get added in two places. Just remember that I have to add these pages manually (for now) so they won't appear immediately.

Remember, I did this mainly to help us out with the search engines. The articles weren't changed at all. I simply copied and pasted them over to their new pages. If I caught a spelling error or something I'd change it, but that didn't even happen too often.

So start submitting more articles so we can make use of this new system. If you're willing to write the articles, I'm willing to add these pages for them.

I also like it.

And I think we'll get more members naturally as we progress once more towards the camping season. I think come March-April we should see increased membership and traffic.

I moderate a major education message board over here, and although we're now no longer considered small, far from it, there was a time 2 1/2 years ago when we were in our infancy, and we knew that membership and posting would occur inline with high demand for information; ie during Examination Periods, Results Dates, and eventually when our founding members got older, University Applications.

Something similar I'm sure will happen here, when people start searching, or when they get frustrated on the ACA boards, we'll be here as an alternative; and hopefully in a few seasons time as the primary source for staff talk.

Oh I definitely agree Echo-- pre and post camp season I bet there will be a big jump in membership/posting! (fingers crossed)

Well said Echo. Karma for you. :)

And I think one our slowest periods might actually be during the camp season. Since most people here go to overnight camp, they won't really be able to come home at night and post here. So it'll just be us day camp people for the most part during the summer. I say this because I noticed a slight decline in activity while some people were away at their winter camp sessions.

I agree that it'll get quieter during the actual season - but the periods leading up to departure will be busy I reckon. Particularly if we start getting a bunch of excitable first time Internationals on board !

(Thanks for the Karma)
