My camp name is Eeyore and I have worked mostly at girl scout camp in Washington state. I worked my way up from CIT through junior counselor and up to unit leader, program director, and now do part-time administration work when I can get out of my real job and head out there. This past summer (2005) I worked about a third of the time - I took about one day each week plus every weekend and tried to be a part-time assistant camp director (the person who was supposed to do it never showed up)!
I did work one summer (2003) at a girl scout camp in California as well, as the assistant camp director out there.
Since I don't get to do camp full time right now, I miss it a lot, and I try to have a lot of ties back to it so I can get out there as much as I can.
I currently hold my archery certification and my small craft safety certification, and I go out to camp in the spring and fall to do weekend waterfront for troop camping a lot, and archery if they need it. I will soon be joining the adult group that does a lot of volunteer service projects out at the camp, in order to give back what I have received there.
I was a camper for 9 years and a staff for about 7-9 (part time since 2001).
