Today I was going over one of my many camp song books. I am working on putting one book together so that I can just have one big book. What I am looking for is you favorite camp songs and the lyrics for the songs. Also, if you could put where you learned the song that would be great i.e. what camp and the location. I know that a lot of camps sing the same song just change the word a little bit. After I am done, I will try to post a link to a copy of the book. I know that a lot of camps have tried this before and it never gets done. I am on a mission to make this happen.
I hope to hear what you favorite songs are! Let’s make this happen..
If you have a book let me know and I will add that as well.

Oh man... Okay. You'll be sorry you asked. :) I tried to pick a few that others might not know that are still my favorites. These are quieter campfire songs.
Marblehead Morning
It's a Marblehead morning, colored cobblestone gray,
Coming on strong to a New England day.
The harbor's a forest of tall sailing trees,
Getting ready to sail on a mid-morning breeze.
Chorus 1:
Fair is my captain, I long to tell him so,
Haul away, heave away; he's going to sail away.
Good times are passing by, high tide is running high,
Haul away, heave away; he's going to leave today.
For three hundred years of going to sea,
The Marblehead men left their women to keep,
A close watch upon the fine line between,
The blue of the sky and the green of the sea.
Chorus 2:
Farewell, good Jonell,
How I wish I could stay.
Good-bye, first love of mine,
Look for my sail on the first day of May.
Our ancestors sailed on a day such as this,
Widows-walk curtains hung in gray morning mist.
While up on the commons a church chime would ring,
And down on the landing a young maiden sings.
*GROUP SPLITS - 1/2 SING CHORUS 1 AND 1/2 SING CHORUS 2*
It's a Marblehead morning colored cobblestone gray,
As long as I'm gone I'll remember today.
One Last Song
There's just one last song I want to sing before I leave you.
One last song to show how much we have shared.
A smile a tear have brought us closer together,
Each of us leaves a part of our hearts here.
Time passes by you know it goes too quickly.
Seems like we've just arrived and it's time to go.
So take all that we have shared together,
Kindle it gently in your heart 'til it glows.
The roads we take may not always be easy,
They may take time, patience, and care.
You know you'll always have a friend you can turn to,
If that road gets too tough to bear.
There's one last song I want to sing before I leave you.
One last song to show how much we have shared.
A smile a tear have brought us closer together,
Each of us leaves a part of our hearts here.

Most of my favorites are religous but ill put them in. but of the secular ones most are just old songs like:
Cats In the Cradel - Harry Chapin
Build me up Buttercup- Foundations
Religious :
Miriams Song- Debbie Friedman
L'Chi L'cha- Debbie Friedman
I don't remember any songs, sorry. But I was wondering, what do you plan on doing with the book? Do you want to just make a copy for yourself or were you thinking about maybe publishing it? Because I was thinking about possibly selling a few books with some mention of this site and possibly get some advertising. If you're interested, you can send me a PM so we can discuss this more.

Harry Chapin - Cats in the Cradle
A child arrived just the other day;
He came to the world in the usual way
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay
He learned to walk while I was away
And he was talking 'fore I knew and as he grew
he said, I'm gonna be like you, dad
You know I'm gonna be like you
And the cat's in the cradle
And the silver spoon
Little boy blue
And the man in the moon.
When you coming home, dad?
I don't know when,
But we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then.
Well my son turned ten just the other day
He said thanks for the ball, dad, come on let's play
Can you teach me to throw?
I said, not today I got a lot to do
He said, that's ok
And then he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And he said, I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm gonna be like him
And the cat's in the cradle
And the silver spoon,
Little boy blue
And the man in the moon.
When you coming home, dad?
I don't know when
But we'll get together then
You know we'll have a good time then
Well, he came from college just the other day
So much like a man I just had to say
Son, I'm proud of you. Can you sit for a while
He shook his head, and he said with a smile
What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys
See you later, Can I have them please?
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
When you coming home, son?
I don't know when,
But we'll get together then, dad.
You know we'll have a good time then.
Well I've long since retired my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I said, I'd like to see you if you don't mind
He said, I'd love to, dad, if I could find the time
You see my new job's a hassle, and the kid's got the flu
But it's sure nice talking to you, dad
It's been sure nice talking to you
And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me
He'd grown up just like me
My boy was just like me
And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
When you coming home, son
I don't know when
But we'll get together then, dad
We're gonna' have a good time then
Foundations- Build me up Buttercup
Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down)and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
when you say will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart
"I'll be over at ten", you told me time and again
But you're late, I wait around and then (bah-dah-dah)
I ran to the door, I can't take any more
is not you, you let me down again
(Hey, hey, hey!) Baby, baby, try to find
(Hey, hey, hey!) A little time, and I'll make you happy
(Hey, hey, hey!) I'll be home
I'll be beside the phone, waiting for you
Oooo-Oooo, oooo-oooo
Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say you will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart
To you I'm a toy but I could be the boy you adore
If you'd just let me know (bah-dah-dah)
Although you're untrue, I'm attracted to you all the more
Why do I need you so
(Hey, hey, hey!) Baby, baby, try to find
(Hey, hey, hey!) A little time and I'll make you happy
(Hey, hey, hey!) I'll be home
I'll be beside the phone, waiting for you
Oooo-oooo, oooo-oooo
Why do you build me up (build me up) Buttercup, baby
Just to let me down (let me down) and mess me around
And then worst of all (worst of all) you never call, baby
When you say will (say you will) but I love you still
I need you (I need you) more than anyone, darlin'
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart
I-I-I need you-oo-oo more than anyone, baby
You know that I have from the start
So build me up (build me up) Buttercup, don't break my heart
Miriams Song- Debbie Friedman
chorus--{And the women dancing with their timbrels,
followed Miriam as she sang her song,
sing a song to the One whom we've exalted,
Miriam and the women danced and danced the whole night long}
And Miriam was a weaver of unique variety
the tapestry she wove was one which sang our history.
With every strand and every thread she crafted her delight!
A woman touched with spirit, she dances toward the light
chorus{}
When Miriam stood upon the shores and gazed across the sea
the wonder of this miracle she soon came to believe.
Whoever thought the sea would part with an outstretched hand
and we would pass to freedom and march to the promised land!
chorus{}
And Miriam the prophet took her timbrel in her hand,
and all the women followed her just as she had planned,
and Miriam raised her voice in song-
She sang with praise and might
We've just lived through a miracle (yelled):We're going to dance tonight!!
chorus{}
L'Chi Lach- Debbie Friedman
L'chi lach, to a land that I will show you
Leich l'cha, to a place you do not know
L'chi lach, on your journey I will bless you
and (you shall be a blessing)3x l'chi lach
L'chi lach, and I shall make your name great
Leich l'cha, and all shall praise your name
L'chi lach, to the place that I will show you
(L'sim-chat cha-yim)3x l'chi lach
There are more but i cant find the words right now.

"Give yourself to love"- Camp Evelyn
Kind friends all gatherd round,
There's something I must say
What brings us togethere here has blessed us all today
Love has made a circle that holds all inside
Where strangers are as family
And Lonliness can't hide
You must give yourself to love,
If love is what your after
Open up your heart's to
The tears and laughter annnd
Give yourself to love
Give yourself to love
I've walked these mountains in the rain
I've grown to love the wind
I've been up before the sunrise
Just to watch the day begin
I always knew I'd find you
Though I never did know how
Like sunshine on a cloudy day
You stand before me now
You must give yourself to love,
If love is what your after
Open up your heart's to
The tears and laughter annnd
Give yourself to love
Give yourself to love
Love is born in fire
It's planted like a seed
Love can't give you everything
But it gives you what you need
Love comes when youre ready
Love comes when you're afraid
It will be your greatest teacher
The best friend you have made
So
You must give yourself to love,
If love is what your after
Open up your heart's to
The tears and laughter annnd
Give yourself to love
Give yourself to love

The Lost Tooth Song
Whether you're an Indian or whether you're a Chief,
There's nothing more exciting, than loosing one of your teeth,
Molars and inscisors, they fall out one by one,
Losing one of your teeth is how we have some fun.
Someday you'll be toothless,
But we don't really care,
We'll go a little higher, and pull out all our hair. HEY !

Alma Mater
Memories of Echo,
Stir within me now as I lie alone,
My hearts drifting back to summer,
Thats where my dreams do rest.
I remember mountains,
and the pine trees tall,
how I loved them all
Standing there as shields,
and guarding us as we all are blessed.
Time lies heavy, winter slow,
BUT I return to, my Echo.
God made Camp a heaven,
with it's peaceful skies,
it's a paradise.
I love Echo, I give my heart for ever,
and ever, to you, you, you.
Friend's Friend's Friend's
Friend's Friend's Friend's
We will always be,
Whether in fair or in dark stormy weather
Camp Echo Lake will keep us together
The green and gold (green and gold)
We will always hold (always hold)
Love will forbade, till death seperate us,
We're friends, friends, friends.
(Repeat).
Sing Sister Sing
If I couldn't go to Echo Lake
I'd tell you what I'd do.
I'd sit right down in the middle of the road,
and cry boo-hoo-hoo-hoo.
(boo-hoo-hoo)
Sing sister Sing
(la-la-la)
Sing sister sing
(la-la-la)
Let your voices ring, let them ring, ring, ring.
If I couldn't go to Echo Lake
I'd tell you what I'd do.
I'd stick my head in a lions mouth,
and tell him just to chew, chew, chew, chew,
Sing sister Sing
(la-la-la)
Sing sister sing
(la-la-la)
Let your voices ring, let them ring, ring, ring.
But if I could go to Echo Lake
I'd tell you what I'd do.
I'd reach out my hands to all my friends,
and say how do you do.
(do do do)
Sing sister Sing
(la-la-la)
Sing sister sing
(la-la-la)
Let your voices ring, let them ring, ring, ring.

This Pretty Planet
(a 3-part round)
This pretty planet spinning thru space
You’re a garden, you’re a harbor
You’re a holy place
Golden Sun going down
Gentle blue giant, spin us around
All through the night
Safe till the morning light
Dreams
Chorus:
May all of your dreams bloom like daisies in the sun
May you always have stars in your eyes
May you not stop running not until your race is run
And may you always have blue skies
A dream is something all your own to keep within your heart
To build on when you're sad, or when you're world's been torn apart
A dream is something all your own that no one else can steal
A dream is something you can make come real
Chorus
You can share a laugh with any stranger you may meet
You can share your money with a beggar on the street
But you can only share a dream when love has set it free
Please won't you share yours with me.
Chorus
Red Balloon
Give me a red balloon on a long black string
I can whistle and I can sing
With my red balloon on a long black string
Oh I am richer than any king
Chorus:
Laughs are many and tears are few
Life's exciting and always new
In a world of girls and boys
In a world of simple joys
Give me a paper kite on a windy day
Oh I think I'll fly away
With my paper kite on a windy day
Oh yes I'll fly away
Chorus
Give me a warm spring day and an apple tree
There is nothing that I can't see
When I look out from my apple tree
Look up there and you'll see me
Chorus
Give me a jar of bubbles and a real good friend
Oh I wish this day would not end
With my jar of bubbles and a real good friend
Oh I wish this day would not end
Chorus

Its fleece was white as snow,
And everywhere that Mary went the lamb said: Baaa, Ain’t that…

Circle Game
Yesterday a child came out to wonder
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star
Then the child moved ten times round the seasons
Skated over ten clear frozen streams
Words like, when you’re older, must appease him
And promises of someday make his dreams
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and dawn
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return we con only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game.
Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels thru the town
And they tell him,
Take your time, it won’t be long now
Till you drag your feet to slow the circles down
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and dawn
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty
Though his dreams have lost some grandeur
Coming true
There’ll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through.
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return, we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
Country Roads
Almost heaven, *Carolina*
Blue ridge mountains
Shenandoah river -
Life is old there
Older than the trees
Younger than the mountains
Growin' like a breeze
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
*Camp Blue Star,Carolina
2 8 7 9 3*
All my memories gathered round her
Miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky
Misty taste of moonshine
Teardrops in my eye
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
*Camp Blue Star,Carolina
2 8 7 9 3*
I hear her voice
In the mornin' hour she calls me
The radio reminds me of my home far away
And drivin' down the road i get a feelin'
That i should have been home yesterday, yesterday
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
*Camp Blue Star,Carolina
2 8 7 9 3*
Country roads, take me home
To the place I belong
*Camp Blue Star,Carolina
2 8 7 9 3
2 8 7 9 3
2 8 7 9 3*
*We sing these lyrics at camp instead of the real ones
One Tin Soldier (we sing it frequently but my director hates it lol)
Listen, children, to a story
That was written long ago,
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley-folk below.
On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath the stone,
And the valley-people swore
They'd have it for their very own.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.
So the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill,
Asking for the buried treasure,
Tons of gold for which they'd kill.
Came an answer from the kingdom,
"With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of our mountain,
All the riches buried there."
Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.
Now the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses! Draw your sword!"
And they killed the mountain-people,
So they won their just reward.
Now they stood beside the treasure,
On the mountain, dark and red.
Turned the stone and looked beneath it...
"Peace on Earth" was all it said.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.
Galileo
Galileo's head was on the block
His crime was looking up the truth
And as the bombshells of my daily fears explode
I try to trace them to my youth
And then you had to bring up reincarnation
Over a couple of beers the other night
And now I'm serving time
For mistakes made by another in another lifetime
(Chorus) How long til my soul gets it right?
Can any human being ever reach that kind of light?
I call on the resting soul of Galileo
King of night vision
King of insight
And then I think about my fear of motion
Which I never could explain
Some other fool across the ocean years ago
Must have crashed his little airplane
(Chorus)
I'm not makin' a joke
You know me, I take everything so seriously
If we wait for the time til all souls get it right
Then at least I know there'll be no nuclear annihilation
In my lifetime
I'm still not right
(Instrumental break)
I offer thanks to those before me
That's all I've got to say
Cuz maybe you squandered big bucks in your lifetime
Now I have to pay
But then again it feels like some sort of inspiration
To let the next life off the hook
She'll say, "Look what I have to overcome from my last life!
I think I'll write a book."
(Chorus)
How long til my soul gets it right (Til we reach the highest height) (How long?)
How long?
Lean on Me
Sometimes in our lives
We all have pain, we all have sorrow
But, if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow
Lean on me
When you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
Lean on me
For it won't be long
'Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won't let show
You just call on me brother
When you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem
that you'll understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me
When you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
Lean on me
For it won't be long
'Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
You just call on me brother
When you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem
that you'll understand
We all need somebody to lean on
If there is a load
You have to bear
That you can't carry
I'm right up the road
I'll share your load
If you just call me
Call me, if you need a friend
Call me, if you ever need a friend
We do a lot of Simon & Garf, Beatles, James Taylor, John Denver, Indigo Girls and a lot of Rick Recht (Jewish music hehehe). American Pie is another big one but I'm not going to type out all the lyrics- whoa baby!
I copied and pasted most of the English songs so sorry if they are the wrong words cause I didn't look to see if they were correct lol.

Well now i dont feel so guilty if i give more. haha.
Way down Yonder
Way down yonder and not far off
A bluebird died of a whooping cough
Welll he whooped and whooped and whooped all day!
He whooped his head and his tail away
When I say oi (or aussie depending on who is leading) you say ah
oi, ah, oi, ah, oi oi oi, ah ah ah
Second verse same as the first a little bit lounder and a little bit worse
Then sing again besides it goes "Third verse same as the first a whole lot louder and a whole lot worse!" And the "well" gets dragged out longer each time.
Desperado
There was a desperado from the wild wild west
He wore a big sombrero and two guns across his chest
He rode out east just to give the west a rest
And everywhere he went he did his "whooohooo"
Chorus: He was a big tall man
He was a desperado
From the cripple creak way out in colorado
He horsed around just like a big tornada
And everywhere he went he did his "whooohooo"
He went to coney island just to see the pretty sights
He saw the hoochie coochie mamas and the girls all dressed in tights
He got so darn excited that he shot out all the lights "BANG"
And everywhere he went he did his "whooohoooo"
Chorus
There was a fat police man just a walking down the street
He saw the desperado just a rockin to his beat
So he grabbed him by the shirt and he grabbed by the seat
And he never ever did his "whooohooo"
Chorus
No banannas
There are no banannas in the sky in the sky
There are no banannas in the sky in the sky
There's a sun and a moon and a coconut cream pie
But there are no banannas in the sky in the sky
Next time through leave out the word "bananna" and just leave it blank next time "sky" etc.
Tarzan
TARRRZAN swing on a rubberband
TARRRZAN smacked into a fryin pan
And oh oh that hurt!
Now tarzan has a tan
And i hope it doesnt peal like a BANANNNNA like a BANANNNNA
Ja a a ane cruzin he her airplane
Ja a a ane crashed into a traffic lane
And oh oh that hurt!
Now jane has a pain
And tarzan has a tan
And I hope it doesnt peal like a BANANNNA like a BANNANA!

i'm trying to think of our songs that aren't just specific to our camp...we have a song book but none of the songs are generic. here are the couple i can think of right now
MERRY GO ROUND
I wanna catch brass rings on the merry go round,
the merry go round, that's me
all the boys excel,
in ringing front door bells,
but i wanna ride on the carousel
i wanna ride on a horse that goes whoopsie down,
whoopsie down, that's me,
and my sweetie in the rear says i ride like paul revere
on the merry, merry go round.
BIRDIE SONG
wayyyy up in the sky,
the little bird flies
while down in the nest,
the little bird rests
with a wing on the left,
and wing on the right,
the little sweet birdie sleeps all through the night
shhhhh they're sleeping!!! (yell that part)
theeee bright sun comes up,
the dew falls away,
good morning good morning the little birds say
tweet tweet tweet!
FRIENDS
friends, friends, friends,
we will always be,
wheather in fair or in dark stormy weather,
camp blue ridge, will keep us together
the grey and blue
GREY AND BLUE
we will all be true,
love will pervade us till death separate us
we're friends, friends, friends.
BIRTHDAY SONGS (that no one has mentioned on here yet)
we are singing to your table today,
cause we hear its (name of person's) birthday,
don't be crying on our shoulders,
you ain't looking any older
happy birthday, happy birthday, we say!
happy happy birthday,
on this your special day
happy happy birthday,
is what we're here to say, HEY!
happy happy birthday,
may all your dreams come true
happy happy birthday,
from (table singing song) to you!
go, go, go, go, go (name of person),
it's your birthday,
we're gonna party like it's your birthday,
we're gonna shout it louder cause it's your birthday,
and (group singing the song) wants to wish you a happy birthday!
(repeat song)
These are some great songs everyone! :D

Other favorites include:
The Gift
I have a little present here for you,
Inside this tiny bottle so very small and blue.
So please do not uncork it, simply put it on its way,
For inside there lies a summer's day, put it on its way.
Now I'd be pleased if you didn't ask,
why I gave this gift to you.
Don't know myself, did it on a whim,
As the thought came runnin' through.
See I just wanna make you happy,
In a summertime sort of way,
And I thought you might like your own summer's day,
Put it on its way.
Now can you read the writing on this tiny bottle wall?
I know that it's quite small, but I can read it all.
It says "she who is a'readin' me,
Is a'lookin' right at my side,
And might be sort of interested at what lies inside.
There'll be one breath of a butterfly, one ray from the sun,
And lots and lots of laughter from little children's fun.
So don't you dare uncork it 'cause everything'll get away,
And I want you to have your own summer's day, put it on its way.
I have a little present here for you,
Inside this tiny bottle so very small and blue.
So please do not uncork it, simply put it on its way,
For inside there lies a summer's day, put it on its way.
Mississippi Mud
Well the sun goes down and the moon comes up
People gather 'round and they all begin to shout
Chorus:
Uh-huh, hey hey, Uncle Judd
It's a treat to beat your feet on the Mississippi mud
It's a treat to beat your feet on the Mississippi mud
What a dance do they do
Lordy how I'm tellin' you
Chorus
They don't need no rockin' band
They keep time by clappin' their hands
Chorus
Murray
1st CHORUS:
Murray the rabbit-boy Murray (2x),
He hops from place to place to save the human race.
Murray the rabbit-boy Murray.
The rabbit and the boy were caught,
in a radiation storm.
And when the storm had cleared up,
the boy had been transformed.
The rabbit and the boy had been mutated into one,
And the legend of Murray the rabbit-boy begun.
Sing it!
1ST CHORUS
2nd CHORUS:
Lori the lobster-girl Lori (2x)
She crawls from place to place to save the human race
Lori the lobster-girl Lori
The lobster and the girl were caught,
in the Exxon Valdez spill.
And when the spill was cleaned up,
the girl had grown some gills.
The lobster and the girl had been mutated into one,
And the legend of Lori the lobster-girl begun.
Sing it!

Another song :)
MAGIC
When I was young I thought the stars were made for wishing on
And every hole deep in a tree would hide a leprechaun
Old houses all had secret rooms, if you could find the key
I do believe in magic, I believe.
Chorus:
Magic is the sun that makes the rainbow out of rain
And magic keeps the dream alive to try and try again
And magic is the love that stays when good friends have to leave
I do believe in magic, I believe.
When I was young, the grown-ups said, one day I'd wake to find
That magic was a childhood dream I'd have to leave behind
Like clothes that would no longer fit and toys that I'd ignore
I'd not believe in magic anymore.
Chorus
Well, now that I'm grown, I found that much to my surprise
The magic did not fade away, It took a new disguise
A child, a friend, a smile, a song, the courage to stand tall
I do believe in magic after all
Chorus
(last line:) )
I do believe in magic, yes I do believe in magic, I believe.

Just thought of another song....
I've Got a Daisy on my Toe (not sure if the title is correct):D
I've got a daisy on my toe
It is not real, it does not grow
It's just a tattoo of a flow'r
So I look good taking a show'r
It's on the 2nd toe of my left foot
It has no stem, it has no root (root in this case rhymes w/ foot)
I got a daisy on my toe
My right foot loves my left foot so
most of the songs I know you might have already so lets see if you do not have the "little bar of soap" let me know.... I love that one. Also we made up a song about chicken patties this summer:
The Chicken Patty re-mix
Chcken patty on a bun
Chicken patty yum yum yum
Chicken patty give me some
C-H-I-C-K-E-N P-A-T-T-Y
it's chicken patty time
Chicken patty Chicken patty Chicken patty Chicken patty

Had to share this...today I was listening to a Joni Mitchell CD and was looking at the list of songs. The last song was the Circle Game. Time of Your Life (Good Riddance) - Green Day (We sing this at the campfire on the last night of camp)
Another turning point;
a fork stuck in the road.
Time grabs you by the wrist;
directs you where to go.
So make the best of this test
and don't ask why.
It's not a question
but a lesson learned in time.
It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
So take the photographs
and still frames in your mind.
Hang it on a shelf
In good health and good time.
Tattoos of memories
and dead skin on trial.
For what it's worth,
it was worth all the while.
It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
(music break)
It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.
It's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

Some of mine have already been posted (the classics like Build me up, and lean on me). So I'll post MTA:
Well let me tell you of the story of a man named Charlie
on a tragic and fateful day
he put ten cents in his pocket, kissed his wife and family
went to ride on the MTA
(Chorus)
well did he ever return? (no!)
he never returned and his fate is still unlearned (unlearned)
He may ride forever 'neath the streets of Boston
he's the man who never returned
Charlie handed in his dime at the Kendall Square station
and he changed for Jamaica Plain
When he got there the conductor told him, "One more nickle".
Charlie couldn't get off of that train.
(Chorus)
Now all night long Charlie rides through the station,
crying, "what will become of me?!
How can I afford to see my sister in Chelsea
or my cousin in Roxbury?""
(chorus)
Charlie's wife goes down to the Scully Square station
Every day at quarter past two
And through the open window she hands Charlie a sandwich
as the train comes rumblin' through
(Chorus)
Now ye citizens of Boston
don't you think it's a scandal
how the people have to pay and pay?
fight the fare increase, Vote for George O'Brian
Get poor Charlie off the MTA
(chorus)

Oh man. Last night I was watching David Letterman and they had this stump the band. So the first guy that goes says his song is "Watilaka" or however you spell it. And that is a song we sing at camp! I had forgotten all the words besides for the part where it goes "I like the rest but the part I like the best goes..." but as soon as he said the title of the song it all came back to me. I was so happy. haha. Then this other lady went and I didn't know her song. Then the last guy to go sang another camp song. By that point my brother informed me I was a looser. Anyways thought I'd share the last song which is Have You Ever Gone Fishing?
Have you ever gone fishing on a bright and sunny day
All the little fishes swimming up and down the bay
With their hands in their pockets and their pockets in their pants
All the little fishs do the hoochie coochie dance
Singing trolla la la trolla la la
Switch (clap hands)
trolla la la trolla la

Does any one have the lyrics for circle game? I want to submit it but i cant find the lyrics.
here you go!
The Circle Game
Yesterday a child came out to wander
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star
Chorus:
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We’re captive on the carousel of time
We can’t return we can only look
Behind from where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
Then the child moved 10 times round the seasons
Skated over 10 clear frozen streams
Words like when you’re older must appease him
And promises of someday make his dreams
Chorus:
Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town
And they tell him take your time it won’t be long now
Till you drag your feet to slow the circles down
Chorus:
So the years spin by and now the boy is 20
Though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true
They’ll be new dreams maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through

Ahh, I adore camp songs! I'm working on a songbook for my camp right now, but it's not quite complete. Maybe we could swap files, campfriend? I'm always looking for new ones!
This is one of my favorites. If you've got a space that echoes, it's the prettiest thing ever. It generally gets sung once through, then the singers split into three groups and sing it through with each starting with a different verse. And it's true-- the song is instant happiness.
Happiness Runs
Happiness runs in a circular motion
Love is like a little boat upon the sea.
Everybody is a part of everything, everywhere.
You can be yourself if you let yourself be!
Why-o?
Because.
Why-o?
Because!
Why-o?
Because.
Why-o?
Because!
Happiness runs, happiness runs, happiness
Happiness runs, happiness runs, runs!
Happiness runs, happiness runs, happiness
Happiness runs, happiness runs, runs!
And another three-part round (guess I like them, huh?) Group one starts at '1' and so on. If it's done properly, it sounds like churchbells.

My favorite camp song was one I learned when I was a camper. Of all the other camp songs I've heard, this one is still my fave!
Bamboo Bungalow-
I'll build a bamboo bungalow for two
room enough for you my honey, room enough for 1-2-3-4
and when we're married, happy we'll be
under the bamboo, under the bamboo tree
boom boom-boom boom- boom boom boom boom boom boom
If you'll be M-I-N-E mine I'll be T-H-I-N-E thine
and I'll L-O-V-E love you all the T-I-M-E time
You are the B-E-S-T best of all the R-E-S-T rest
And I'll L-O-V-E love you all the T-I-M-E time
rack 'em up, sack 'em up any old time
matches in the gas tank (I suppose you could change this to something less dangerous)
B-double O-M, B-double O-M,
Boom, boom!
so this weekend a bunch of the staff that is at camp already went hikeing up in the UP and it was raining and someone started to sing the "I'm singing in the rain" song. It starts off witht the normal "I'm singing in the rain, I'm singing in the rain what a beautiful fealing I'm happy again" but then there are different words added to it and we couldnt figure it out. Can any one help us out?

You sing a beat (different for every camp I've been to) liiiiiiiike a-tee-ter-tot a-tee-ter-tot a-tee-ter-ta-ta Whoo! and then you add guestures each time - thumbs up, elbows in, head back, butt out, knees together, tounge out, etc.... Thats the only one i know
so its just like aruchicha (sp?)

I've just learnt loads of new songs which I want to remember for camp, typing them out should help!
Once a girl guide went to camp
(I suppose you could substitute girl guide for girl scout and guide leader for camp counselour)
Once a girl guide went to camp (went to camp)
Went to camp without a lamp (without a lamp)
And when she found a spider in her bed
This is what that girl guide said (girl guide said)
Spider spider go away (go away)
I can not let you stay (let you stay)
You must have heard what my guide leader said
No two people in one bed (in one bed)
Repeat with beetle and ant and then boy scout, except the chorus is different for that one:
Boy scout boy scout stay with me stay with me
I will never let you free let you free
You must have heard what my guide leader said
Squeeze two people in one bed in one bed
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There's a song about a moose here already, but this one is longer
Crazy moose- a repeat after me song with actions
There was a crazy moose
And he liked to drinka juice
There was a crzy moose
And he liked to drinka juice
Sing Way-o way-o
way-o-way-o-way-o
waaaaaaaay-o waaaaaaay-o
way-o-way-o-way-o-way-o
The moose's name was fred /
He liked to drink his juice in bed
He drank his juice with care /
But he spilt some in his hair
All his hair went stiff /
So he styled it in a quiff
Now his friends did laugh /
So he had to take a bath
As the water went down /
Fred the moose began to drown
(sing glug hlug glug glug instead of way-o)
I'll count to five (12345 really quick)
Fred the moose is back alive
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The iceberg song A repeat after me song with actions
Forty years on an iceberg
Bobbing along on the tide
Nothing to wear but pyjamas
Nothing to do but slide
The weather is getting colder
The wind's beginning to bite
I think I better go out there
And hug one polar bear tonight (everyone has to hug someone)
repeat with more polar bears to hug until it gets annoying then change to no polar bears tonight :(
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Does anyone know the second verse to charlie had a pigeon?
