The iceberg song A repeat after me song with actions

Forty years on an iceberg
Bobbing along on the tide
Nothing to wear but pyjamas
Nothing to do but slide
The weather is getting colder
The wind's beginning to bite
I think I better go out there
And hug one polar bear tonight (everyone has to hug someone)

Powers, I love that girl guide song! We do 'The Ice Burg Song' at my camp only we sing it a little differently and with more actions.

Forty Years on an Iceburg, (Show four fingers on each hand)
Over the ocean wide, (make wave mouvements with hand)
Nothing to wear but pyjamas,(point to clothing)
Nothing to do but slide.(bend down to the ground)
The wind was cold and icy, (hug yourself)
The Frost began to bite, (*gently* pinch the person standing next to you)
I had to hug my polar bear to keep me warm at night! (hug the person standing next to you)

We dont' sing it as a repeating song, but rather as each time you sing it you hum a line rather than sing it and just leave the action.

Before you decide to make a camp song book to sell, consider that many camp songs are real songs that are copyrighted. If you want wide distribution of your songbook, I would consider offering it up for free and not for profit.

That said, I have recently put one together myself. It's too big to attach in an email, but I'm happy to mail a CD to anyone who wants one for B&P (blank CD and postage). Send me a PM with your address if you want a copy. The one condition is that you have to agree not to sell it. It's a work in constant progress of course, so feel free to add to it at will.

I am looking at doing the song book more for fun. I have a great list of songs that I have been putting togeather and I would not see it but use it for staff!

ha ha we had an amazing song book untill oe this spring. A group came that HATED camp. and we are 99.9% sure that the teachers stole the book cause we all knew where it was before the group came but after they left we have no idea WHERE it went!

I've had some questions about this, so I thought I'd clarify. If you want a copy of my songbook, send me a PM and I will give you my address. Then, mail me a writable (blank) CD and return postage (probably about $1). When I receive your blank CD, I will copy the songbook and mail it back to you within a few days. My songbook is geared towards Girl Scout Camp and is continually a work in progress. I'll always mail the most current edition.

Cheers!

so... i didn't know if you still were making one campfriend, but i thought that i would add some songs anyway... they're all campfire type songs...

Rainbow Children
We're a rainbow, made of children
We're an army, just singing a song
There's no weapons that can stop us
Rainbow love is much too strong

I was raised in Mississippi
Saying yes sir, to ev’ry man
But I found that it got me nowhere
So I ain't gonna do it again

We're a rainbow...

Well my grandma, she was a princess
And my grandpa, he was a chief
And now thanks to our good neighbors
Both my folks are on relief

We're a rainbow...

I was taught that black was evil
I was taught that white was good
But in a rainbow made of children
Every color's understood

We're a rainbow...

It's not the winning that's important
But it's how you play the game
But that's not how some folks see it,
And that's not how peace is made.

We're a rainbow...

Now the rainbow's all kinds of people,
Walking together hand in hand.
At the end of the rainbow
May there be peace throughout the land.

We're a rainbow...

On the Loose
On the loose to climb a mountain
On the loose where I am free
On the loose to live my life
The way I think my life should be.
For I've only got a moment
And the whole world left to see
I'll be looking for tomorrow on the loose.

Have you ever watched the sunrise turn the sky completely red?
Have you slept beneath the moon and stars with a pine bough for your bed?
Do you sit and talk with friends though a word is never said?
Then you're just like me and you've been on the loose.

On the loose to climb a mountain...

There's a trail that I'll be hiking just to see where it may go
Many places yet to visit many people yet to know
So in following my dreams I will live and I will grow
On a trail that's waiting out there on the loose.

On the loose to climb a mountain...

Have you ever heard a whippoorwill singing to the morning dew?
When you hear the bells ringing, do you know they ring for you?
And when you look back on the past, all I really ask
Is to remember me when you're out on the loose

On the loose to climb a mountain...

So, in search of love and laughter I'll be traveling through this land
Never sure of where I'm going for I haven't any plans.
So in time when you are ready come and join me, take my hand,
And together we'll share life out on the loose

On the loose to climb a mountain...

As I sit and watch the sunset and the daylight slowly fades
I am thinking of tomorrow and the friendships we have made
I will value them for always and I hope you'll do the same
And forever we'll explore life on the loose

On the loose to climb a mountain...

Linger
Mmmm I want to linger
Mmmm a little longer
Mmmm a little longer here with you

Mmmm it's such a perfect night
Mmmm it doesn't seem quite right
Mmmm that it should be my last with you

Mmmm and come next September
Mmmm I will remember
Mmmm my camping days and friendships true

Mmmm And as the years go by,
Mmmm I'll think of you and sigh.
Mmmm this is goodnight and not goodbye

Does anyone know the tune to Melinda Carroll's 'Celebrate Together'? I only remember how the chorus goes, and this has been driving me nuts for days.

A mp3, a midi, ABC notation written out-- anything would help!

Never heard the song but I googled it and got lyrics! Hope this Helps!!

1st Verse
If I touch one someone with my song
Somewhere in this whole world round,
And that someone somewhere starts to sing along
That would be the sweetest sound.
And if I make a little magic with my words,
In something that I write or say;
Then I know my message is bound to be heard.
And I'll give something to the world in my own way.
Just a spark of inspiration
Lights a fire deep inside
I'll use my imagination
To create my work with pride (And...to Chorus)
Chorus
Celebrate the girl inside of me
Celebrate the woman I will be
I will sing out my own melody
When we celebrate, celebrate together
2nd Verse
There's a world of wonders to explore
And I hear it calling out to me
Now I'm getting ready everyday to open the door
Make my way and see what I can see
I'll fly the sky and sail the ocean
Climb the mountain to the top
Now my life is set in motion
Here I go no I won't stop (I'll...to Chorus)
Bridge
Standing in a circle with my sisters
Arm in arm with friends
Girl Scouts together, united
I pledge once again (...to Chorus 2 X )

Thanks, Jenny. I already had the lyrics squirreled away in a few songbooks and things. Oh, well. Hopefully someone, somewhere, will pop up and teach it to me.

Squee! THANK you, Jenny! You just helped preserve some of my mental well-being! *hugs* I'm too excited.

This isn't even one of my absolute-favorite songs: it just drives me nuts to have songs in my songbook that I can't sing.

I'm super-excited! I just taught myself how to sing 'Soup of the Evening,' from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. (It's a parody of an old tune called 'Star of the Evening;' I found the sheet music online.) I'm going to teach it as a camp song. :D

Has anyone else got any new soon-to-be-camp songs they aim to teach this year? I love singing, so I try to introduce a few new ones each summer.
