What is your camp or your organization Mission Statement? I have worked for the YMCA for many years and I think that one of the big reasons that I do is because of our mission!

we don't have a specific mission statement i don't think, but we have our WIN philosophy, which stands for Wholesome, Inclusive, and Nurturing. it's mostly for the counselors to keep in mind when dealing with the campers, but we're supposed to pass it on to the campers. we're supposed to promote this "winning" environment in which we look "wholesome" and do "wholesome" things, include everyone, and create opportunities for the kids to grow with a lot of encouragement and care. this summer, for the campers, we're also starting "the 6 pillars of blue ridge" which are things like responsibility, respect, fairness, etc. we're going to pick one kid in each group at the end of each week and honor them at friday night services with e "B" award.

im not a big fan of mission statements but i pulled this from our web page (it seems like we have different mission statements floating around since i guess it would be huge if it was all together)...well ok they refer to it as their philosophy but anywho here it is:

Helping you discover your potential and inspiring you to make a difference. Betsy-Jeff Penn’s programs encourage youth to gain interpersonal life skills, ecological knowledge and community awareness through learning by doing. The center promotes leadership, social and emotional growth and creates a positive environment that influences campers’ lives.

The mission statement of GSUSA is: "Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place." So technically, our camp's mission should totally incorporate that.

Our philosophy, as explained to parents, is Girl-Adult Partnership (also known as Girl Planning).

I don't think we have a "mission statement", but our slogan is that we're the biggest and finest Jewish day camp in North America. I guess that's more bragging than a mission statement. :P
