I know we all love camp, but what are some of your interests/hobbies? Stuff you may or may not do at camp, extra-camp activites (instead of extra-curriculm). I know some us work and others have school and then we have our "fun" time. So share whatever! :)

I'm a bowler. :D I'm pretty good at it. (I guess that's why I'd love for it be added to our camp.)

I also like computers. I spend a lot of time on the Internet, mostly on forums (including this one).

I'm not the most thrilling person you'll ever meet. I'll say that right now. :P

I am a big outdoor fan. I love to camp and go on adventur trips. I don't get all that much time to do the things I love due to camp. But I love camp!

I like to read, write, play video games, cook, play with my pet rats, plot and plan about things, go horseback riding (oh wait, but that's usually just at camp)...

I love going to the movies, I like scrapbooking and other 'crafty' type things, running, I 'try' to play the guitar, but it doesn't go so well... reading a great book is one of my alltime favorite things to do.

I used to be a long distance runner, but that's gone to the wayside. So most of my time is spent hanging out now that I'm not in school. I do a lot of reading, and exploring. When I have time, I rollerblade on the track. I wish I were so much more active.

I'm an active member of UNAC (united nations association in Canada) and I'm actually heading to a conference in Halifax in a couple of weeks, I also am a Canadian Tire slave, student, and in the remaining time I go downtown with friends, go to movies, just general hang out stuff. You know, when writing down what you do, it makes you seem rather boring!

I enjoy photography, and Girl Guides, and my computer. And besides working fulltime at daycare, that's about all I have for!

Well lets see... going to an arts school for college means that I get to do what i like to do which is paint, draw, blah blah blah. People would be suprised at how many oddball arts an crafts i've done. For instance one year i mixed up dyes and made unkranian easter eggs , the dyes are still sitting on a shelf in my basement at home from a few years ago. i hand sew i little when i have time and over the summer i learned to applique, i 'm also an avid cook but like most of my italian relatives i don't measure things out. School takes up alot of my free time but i use to bowl when i could . I told my friends that i wanted to bowl on my birthday and i ended up beating them so that was nice. Basically i try not to be as creative in my free time so that my brain has a break and i don't get burnt out from an art overload.
ps-(i now feel rather one note with all that art stuff)

I'm usually kept busy with drama classes/play rehersals and school adn besides that Girl Guides. When I do get some free time I love reading, writing and hanging out with friends. Anything 'artsy' will keep me occupied for hours.

I'm into guiding as well, though not as much as I'd like to due to study / work commitments at the moment.
I read far too much. I like to have long, rambling conversations with people about nothing- is that a hobby? I go trampolining in an effort to get fit, I'm awful and spend at least 3 days in agony after I go training, but for some reason I love it and go through it all again! In an effort to gain some hand eye co-ordination, I'm trying to teach myself how to juggle devil sticks.

OT- campnerd, your signature has got me singing!

Vicky, trampolining sounds like fun!

It does! I need to find something active to do to get a bit fitter...

I like a good read, am reading an interesting one on why societys collapse at the moment. I like watching a good film as well.

I'm also involved with a student society, 'Student Action for Refugees' and run a project for them.

I suppose my degree takes up quite a lot of time!

Trampolining is great fun, just really exhausting and painful- it's like a full contact martial art, but with bouncing!!

Rach- I used to love rollarblading when I was a kid, I'd love to skate to lectures, but nottingham campus is so hilly I wouldn't be able to get back home!

Simon- that society sounds really positive and a bit wider reaching than the 'help kids with homework to put on your cv' bias that student community action has (at least in notts!) What does your project do? Is it like an out-reach programme?

You'll regret asking that, because you're in the for full spiel!!

We run four different projects, the Saturday Project which I set up with someone else this past year, which is a youth project for new arrivals in Leeds. It offers computer skills, but for the moment is offering english lessons because that's what our members asked for!

There is also a long-running Wednesday Project, which also offers conversation classes, but for adults, and helps with CVs and stuff like that.

There's also the Journey to Safety Project (which I'm taking over next year), which is a simulation exercise of what it's like to be an asylum seeker and have to leave your home. We do it with our members, but also take it into local schools, which year 7-9 kids... which usually makes them think.

That's it! :D

Vicki, yes indeed I know the nottingham campus. There's a hill behind the Law building (i think) that is just insane... Don't rollerblade there!

Rach- I've just had to walk up that hill! And Derby Rd from campus to Nottingham is pretty immense, if a skated to uni, I'd end up in the lake and unable to get home!

Simon- thanks for all that-the projects sound very impressive and are really important against the image of refugees and asylum seekers that come out of the tabloids- keep it up!
