What do you guys drink during the summer- were talking non-alcoholic here!
At my camp there are some people that always have a mountain dew in their hands and others can't go anywhere without there energy drinks. As for me I am addicted to Gatorade- for me camp and gatorade go together like Peanut butter and Jelly! I love gatorade!

pretty much everyone, campers and counselors, at my camp has cases of bottled water under our beds (mostly poland spring, but some like dannon or dasani haha). never really any soda unless we're at bbq. occasionally, the counselors also keep snapple or seltzer under the beds, but i would have to say that water wins.

V - it's an energy drink. We can't buy it at camp, so all the staff have stockpiles of it. We use it for barter :p

Lots of water. Occasionally, I 'll pick up some soda, label it a lot, and drink that. But mostly water. The water at camp actually doesn't have a funny taste! :)

I always have my nalgene with me. And in the nalgene I always have my gatorade or water. I drink so much during the day...you have to b/c of the heat/humidity in NY.

On the really hot days I bring my own bottle of Gatorade to camp, but our camp always has water coolers at just about every activity at camp. Of course, if you want the best water, you go to the water cooler outside the nurse because that's where the coldest water is.

Well I'm a big water drinker as it is so thats my staple for the summer. I dont drink lots of soda but some of the staff drank a lot. the campers could only get soda once during the day. then at meals and during juice brake there is watered down not very tastey juice. and occasionally at meals sweet tea. There wasnt a lot of gatorade or energy drinks around which is wierd now that I think about it.

WATER! It's the main drink, everyone drinks it, and if they don't, there's something wrong. That's the reason for my signature, my first year as a counselor, I found myself giving 2 answers to my campers' questions: Drink water, and take a buddy. You have a headache? Drink water. You have to pee? Take a buddy. Your feet hurt? Drink water. And take a buddy on the way there.

We also have kool-ade at meals, which we try to keep the campers away from until they've had a few glasses of water, but it's usually not successful... And there's usually Gatorade at the barn, health lodge, and office.

We always tell the kids to get a drink of water at our camp too. If they hurt themselves, we'll tell them to get a drink of water, if they're mad because they lost a game, if they're happy because they won a game, if they don't want to participate in an activity... Basically anything.

Around camp: Water
At meals: Water, milk, or lemonade (we drink lots of lemonade at my camp)
During time off: Pop (last summer I drank a lot of Diet Cherry Coke, and Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr. Pepper, we have a fridge in the counselor shack to keep it in)

The kids very rarely get pop over the summer though. They can buy it on some trip days depending on where they go and will get it another two or three times or so at special events.

Our campers drink soda when the order it for snacks and they get gatorade sometimes too. At meals they have to have 3 glasses of water before they can have milk or juice.

Water. At the camps I work at water was required milk was never offered except in cereal and juice was there, but often it was just colored water because it was never made right. Though the staff would bring gatorade and soda when on breaks. I only would drink soda if I was overyl stressed. I too Indigo would use water as the answer to just about any health issue the girls would come to me for. I still do it to friends and family members when I hear them say they don't feel well.

We are a water bug juice camp! We don't offer anything in tnhe dining hall except for that. One lunch per 4 week session we give out coke though. Oh and during breakfast there is hot chocolate and milk available. Also for counselors we have coffee and tea. The only time kids can have soda is when they go to the camp store and most of the staff just carry around our nalgenes.

Nights out our drinks change drasticly...

I love my water. I don't usually drink anything else at camp accept at night I love to make chai tea and sit and drink that with my pals while we chat about our days.

Water mostly - body eventually adjusts to the slight twang it has.

At canteen I tend to drink pepsi or Mtn. Dew from the mixer taps.

------

As has been said, the alcoholic beverages depend on where I'm drinking at night; if it's down the local, they have Cherry Brandy in stock which served with ice is a great night cap; other than that Jagerbombs are really good !

I've been obsessed with green tea lately! I want to take a bottle of it to camp every day next summer. :D

Thank you ! I'm not the only one then. :p You can't have just one though; that's a waste of 2/3rds of a can of Red Bull - :speechles

It's when you're getting them put in front of you by the bar lady, on the last night of camp; and on the house for the night due to loyal custom all summer that things get a little messy.... somehow I managed to play my best game of pool all summer, or more precisely I beat a guy who'd thrashed me all summer long; saying that he was getting a bit trolleyed too. :D

Water Water Water! Thats what I drink. But, I usually have a cup of bug juice at lunch and dinner... mostly because I can't swallow pills with water.

Our kids are required to drink 2 cups of water at each meal before having another drink or dessert. As counselors we should also drink two cups of water at each meal-- but I usually drink most of my nalgene between meals... so I sometimes skip a cup or both cups. But, if it's really hot out- they just won't even make bug juice.

Around camp - Nalgene with wataaaa
Meals - usually milk for me.. but juice, milk, tea, coffee is available
Juice Break/Snack (10am, 2:30pm, 8pm) - Juice!

Some staff put pop or juice in their Nalgene's.. which is fine.. I just.. don't. I'm addicted to iced tea now, though.. so that might change this summer!

Flukie
01-05-2006, 09:51 PM
Kool-aid like stuff. :) Often it is red.

We have Bug Juice and Lemonade in the DH. Water frist, then juice. I'll drink either. I also try to drink milk (and fail miserably). Mixing the bug juice and lemonade is good too - not that the campers always believe it. Lol.
