What do you during rainy days at your camp?

This summer was so bad for us for rain. We still did a lot of our normal camp activities but we had to make them indoor. The worst part was the kids did not get to go swimming. We do not have much indoor spce so we have to make due with what we have.

It depends on what we're scheduled to do. If it's riding, swimming, or canoeing, then the wranglers/lifeguards do something else with the group, usually games. Pretty much everything else proceeds normally, but usually it's moved inside.

Unless it lightening and thundering we carry on with the schedule. so if we have to go inside we play games or do challenge "night". i dont like rainy day activities though. the best one was actually cherads which one of my campers came up with. i loved that idea and am going to keep it in mind for this upcoming summer!

It didn't rain a whole lot this summer, i can remember 4 times the whole summer! If it is not lightning and and thundering we just do the normal stuff. If there is lightning or thunder, waterfront activities are stopped of corse. We had dance parties, played games, sang songs, and other fun stuff to pass the time until we could get back into the water.

if we wake up and it's raining, at the grouphead meeting in the morning my mom tells the groupheads the rainy day schedule for the day. we have a lot of indoor spaces we can use. we'll have a normal bugle schedule but with different activities, here's a typical rainy day schedule:

1st activity:
sophs: double period arts and crafts
juniors: dance
kadettes: gymnastics
inters/mediates: movie in the mess hall
seniors: cross the river (its a team building game) in the social hall

2nd activity:
sophs: double period arts and crafts
juniors: gymnastics
kadettes: dance
inters/mediates: movie in the mess hall
seniors: improv games in the soph play room (the seniors love activities in the playroom!)

3rd activity:
sophs: gymnastics
juniors: relay games in the social hall
kadettes: arts and crafts
inters/mediates: double period hobby center
seniors: movie in the mess hall

4th activity:
sophs: dance
juniors: arts and crafts
kadettes: relay games in the social hall
inters/mediates: double period hobby center
seniors: movie in the mess hall

if it starts to rain in the middle of the day, there's a quick groupheads meeting where my mom will give the rest of the day's schedule. sometimes, if it's close to sing or if an age group has a play coming up, some groups will have sing or play rehearsal.

We stay under our age group's pavilion and play board games. If it's not raining too bad we'll walk to lunch. I always have a lot of fun playing board games with the kids. (I also like to change the rules a bit sometimes too... ;) )

Unless there's thunder and lightning, we'll still do most things, unless it's a safety issue like with canyoning where the river might overflow. If the weather is really too bad to do much, we'll get them playing games in the rec hall. Or, we get them outside on the mudslide.

We don't have to many rainy days prolly like 4 or 5 the whole summer!! I mean it is Arizona! So ya we just hang out in our cabins and stuff, so sometimes I get a nice long nap and other times I just chill and entertain my girls!
