How many of your staff are returning?
Last year we had like 25% returning staff, but this summer it will be at least 50%

my second summer was like 30% this yera was like 25% next year i have a feeling will be even less because this year was an off year on staffing and many people wont be asked back

about 60-75%, depending on the summer, the past few summers its been on the high end and its expected to be even higher next summer, we might even get up to 80.

This summer I am looking at 60%. I had an all new staff my first year! That was not fun.

In the past few summers, it's probably been between 20 and 40%. When I was a camper, it seemed much higher...

My camp averages about 65%-70%...people just keep coming back to this place!

no clue with percentages. i have a feeling we are going to have a lot of returning staff this year though. a lot of the people not only loved it but can also affoard it still.

I'm not sure how much staff is returning staff at our camp, but it's pretty high because every year I recognize so many people.

Last year was low - we had about 30 staff and 3 were returners... However, we also had about 7 staff that had been campers and were now old enough to be staff.

This summer should be higher - we already know we have at least 8 staff that are returning, plus a few other that we've purloined from the day camps. :) (I was told that I couldn't actively recruit from other camps in our Council - apparently, they took my comment about "stealing staff" seriously. Hehehe. Oops.)

Last year was low, we only had five returning counselors and two that had been campers (out of 30 counselors). This year I think it will be higher, though I don't know I'll be among it.
The two years before it had been much higher than that. My first year I think it was about 50% and the summer before that we were over two thirds returning or formerly campers.

I think what happened for us last summer was that there were a lot of counselors who'd been there three or four summers that just got to the point in their lives where they couldn't come back to camp anymore.

It's great when you can keep counselors for a long time, but it is a hard turn-over when they are gone!! That is part of camp!

I have changed camps alot, but the ones with my GS Council are very low. Barely anyone returns after one summer.

The one I worked in Cali was very high because everyone loved it so much.

in the past we've usually had about 80%+ of staff who were either on staff the summer before or had just finished the staff trainee program... 2005 was the first time in quite a while where we had more new staff than old staff, but the return rate will probably be higher for 2006

It often depends on the year. Some years we have a good staff return rate, around 50% while others we have a poor return staff rate, around 20-30% So, it all depends on the year I guess.

We have a director in charge of staff recruitment. She travels around to different colleges recruiting and also contacts our old CITs and campers. She also goes to job fairs and camp fairs in other countries. Somewhere around 30% of our staff are from other countries. Probably even more actually.

We have 4 directors at our camp all in charge of different things.

I think that I would like to try her job for awhile. I get to do it all right now. I guess I need to keep working to get my camp bigger!
