Hi All!
I'm new to the camp threads.
I work for a tech camp (and love it). Is everyone else trying to keep to business as usual with this economy? I'll be really interested to see how registrations go this summer. I'm hoping that parents still send their kids to our camps!
I hope all of the other camps out there have a great season and are not adversely affected.

Great post, Julie. And a valid concern! I own a day camp in los angeles (http://www.alohabeachcamp.com/los-angeles-day-camp.html) and while last summer we had one of our strongest enrollment seasons ever, we do have concerns about how this upcoming (2009) summer will play out given the state of the economy. However, I think most parents will always cut out their own spending and items so they can continue spending on their kids (as a parent myself, the last thing I'll ever cut from the family budget is stuff for my kids), so hopefully camp enrollment won't suffer too much next season. We'll see!

Hi, I'm not sure how other camps are going to run, but my camp is actually expected to have record enrollment because of a realignment of girl scout councils which caused several older ones to chut down. Of course girl scout camps are pretty affordable in comparison to some others.
Last season (2008) was actually a little difficult for my camp I think. It's our 50th summer in 2009, so hopefully all the advertisement about that will pump things up.
