We have a lot of ticks. I didn't get any last summer, but i had campers who got like 10 in 10 days!

Ewww i haaate ticks more than any other bug. After hiking I always feel disgusting until I can take a shower and thoroughly check my hair.
I'm pretty sure we have ticks. I've never gotten bit by one, and neither have any of my campers. But I'm sure they're around.

Oooh. The day camp I worked at had leeches! None of the campers got one... but I did.
We had a HUGE tick problem this summer. The site manager had to spray down the picnic tables by the lodge to alleviate it. It was bad.

Ewww!
We had a headlice problem couple of years ago, and scabies because it was so damp. The Directors cabin also had mice, because I had to clean it during pre-camp last summer :(
My old unit leader also had a couch in his room, that when he left the next person found several mouse carcasses, including several skeletons, so they'd been there a while! They'd hollowed out the couch completely!

Things in the water, like leeches, are my biggest fear.
We had lice, but it was confined to my bunk...lucky me! We all had to go and get combed out and shampooed by the nurses. Have you guys experienced the...smell..that is lice shampoo? Lets just say no one in my bunk had a date that night...with anyone! Our bunk was exhiled by the rest of camp.

What exactly are scabies?
We had a ton of..oh crap i just forgot what they are called. anyways they look just like wasps but they arent. They don't have a stinger or anything and their tails are kind of blue. Mud Dobbers maybe? Anyways the campers always thought they were wasps and would freak out about it. However, we did have a wasp problem in part of the craft shelter. Oh the fun!

Scabies are little mites that burrow under the skin and lay little eggs. It irritates the skin, making it very itchy. In somewhere like camp, they are highly infectious.
Makes me shudder just thinking about it!

OK, we had fun with Fire Ants this summer. We had campers bitten everyday and our wonderful ants would cover the child. This summer I had to grab a campers and jump in the pool with them to get all of the ants off. I must say that's no fum when you both have all of your clothes on!!

is it just me or were the mosquitos up north awful this summer? August (which is usually the better month) was just unbearable with the number of mosquitos.

Our biggest pests are the foxes. They've gotten very use to the fact that we are there. They know our routines and show up at our overnight site where they know they will get food.
Also our resident beaver has decided he doesn't like the kids anymore and has begun slapping his tail everytime we get closeto our frog pond.
Mosquittos were bad too. Never had skunks or raccoons. Lots of rabbits, deer, foxes, beavers, muskrats, Blue herons

Hahaha the canadian geese migrate down to the area where I'm from and a lot of them live on my lake and come into my yard. They are mean and they will chase you if they decide you did something to deserve it!

I know what you mean, Kiwi!
At camp, though, they will attack even if you didn't do anything to deserve it!
