I did one year made up some geek letters and we were a fraternity house(since I was and still a member of phi beta sigma fraternity inc.) (when I had the older boys) littler kids we did secret agents, and one year me and my counselor mate did an ACC theme he is a North carolina state fan and I am a Florida state fan. and our CIT was a Carolina fan. so we put up poster and pictures of all the acc teams

For outdoor ed camp for the 5th graders we had to creat a team name and we were the White Rabbits and we lived in the white rabbit's lair! Only problem with it was that we seemed to have cursed ourselves as we were always late for things that we traveled to as a cabin group!! haha and we were literally 2 cabins away from line-up!

Since you're an art camp -- how about artists/types of art/art periods. On a more generic level -- Decades (50s/60s/70s/80s), Holidays, -- If you're feeling stuck google "party themes" and you'll find hundreds of ideas that you can translate to the camp world. Here's a good link... http://www.partydirectory.com/guide/ptytheme.htmGood luck.
