I am director of a very new and very small sports camp. I am currently in the process of planning pre-camp for six - yes, 6 - staff members.

Most of the staff do not know each other well, and I would like to add in a few more games / team building exercises but most of what I've found really isn't geared to such a small group.

Any ideas or things you have done in the past that you think would work in this situation?

Human Knot works with any size group.

Calculator can be adapted for small groups by using few numbers (I would normally do that with groups of 6-10 anyway) - u make cardboard circles with numbers (e.g. 1 - 15) on them and set them in a circle (I usually use chalk or rope to mark the circle) - and then set a start line at least 20 feet away from the circle. The team then have to run from the start line to the circle - where every number has to touched in order BUT only one person can be in the circle at a time otherwise they incur a 2 sec time penalty. Once every number has been touched the return to the start line where they are told how long it took them. They are then give 5 mins to debried and see if they can come up with a way to do it quicker - and then they try again.

The great duck escape is also fun - i hav done that with small groups - you need a length of pipe sealed at one end with holes randomly punched up its lenght with a small rubber duck at the bottom - the aim is to work together to float the duck out.

then there is the frozen Tshirt - simply you soak a Tshirt (a cheap one that it doesnt matter if it gets ruined) and then scrunch it up into a ball and freeze it - the group then have work together to be able to put the Tshirt on - the only water they are allowed to use is any they may have in their water bottles!

I worked with small groups of 12-17 year olds for a couple years and totally sympathize
umm- jeez - what did we do...

there was two touch - very fun - everyone stands in a circle and you pass the ball around but are only allowed to touch it twice, no kicking it too hard and cannot pass to those immediately beside you or back to the person who gave it to you

keep it up - competition to keep up the soccerball with the max. amount of touches before it hits the floor

umm.. it's late and i can't think of any other sports-y activities we did, but if I do I'll put 'em here for ya
