We have an IRC channel! In the November newsletter I said that I knew someone who was offering channels. Well I took him up on the offer and we now have an IRC channel! Unfortunately our host doesn't allow java chats so that's not going to happen for now. But if you have an IRC client, feel free to join our channel!\
We're channel #talkcamp on server irc.vbulletin-fans.com port 6667.
If you don't have an IRC client, you can download XiRCON (http://www.xircon.com/) for free.
If you already have an IRC client skip the next # steps:
Server -> Connect...
You might have to enter in a network. Just type in vbfans. Leave Host Name blank.
Enter irc.vbulletin-fans.com:6667 for Connect to, your forum name for Nick Name, your forum name with a _ at the end for Alternate Nick Name, your forum name (or alternate, if your forum name is taken) for User Name. Leave the rest alone.
Once all your info is entered, hit OK.
Now you have to register your nick. At the status window (which is what you connected to; not the channel), type /msg nickserv register <YOUR-PASSWORD>into the box (just as you would in a regular chat room). Replace <YOUR-PASSWORD>with your password. Hit enter.
Hopefully it'll accept you. If it did, type /join #talkcamp into the box. Now you'll be in the channel.There is some information you should know. First I'll tell you the symbols. In front of the usernames, you may see a symbol. Here's what they mean:
! - administrator
@ - super moderator
% - junior staff (moderators, writers, promoters, etc.)
+ - Talk Camp member
(no symbol) - guest, or you're a member but we haven't added you as a member yet.If you have any questions, feel free to ask! I hope that everyone takes advantage of this channel!
You may ask questions and get support in this thread (http://talkcamp.com/showthread.php?t=162).
