We paly a game called night moves at my camp for the staff. It requires a killer with a flashlight, a deck of cards, base, and four different stations . I was wondering if you guys and any games that your staff plays during down time or at night.

We played a game at my previous camp called greased watermelon - which we would do as an all staff activity during pre and post camp!

Magic Ball. We tend to make it too violent for campers. You have some area that you aren't allowed to cross with out the ball and the goal is to get all your team members over first. I've have been takled several times playing this game.

Haha we sometimes get some pretty intense games of tetherball going, but I don't think we have anything like you're talking about.

I know that the counselors like to play this vicious game that we just call the animal game.

Every person in the room picks an animal and then has to make the sound of that animal. One person is "it" and has a rolled up newspaper in their hand. The starter calls an animal name and that has to make their noise and call another animal before the person who is "it" hits them with the rolled up newspaper. It can get a little vicious and vindictive, but is awesome fun.

There are a couple games us counselors learned to teach to campers, but ended up loving to play ourselves, even when the kids aren't around! We tend to get more aggressive, too, which is part of the reason we play when the kids are gone. Finger fencing...sock wars...the camouflage game... and this one game thats kinda like rock paper scissors.

at my camp the counsellors play a game where they have to pick a name out of a bag and then hunt down that person. They have to "kill" the person by spraying them with water without anyone else being there. And then, when they kill the person, they get to kill the dead person's victim. hm. maybe that wasnt very clear, but i'm french so i have a good excuse :)

It's not a camp game, but we used to play this awesome game in college. Everyone has to agree to the rules if they are going to play.

The objective of the game is to get someone to look at you while you make "goggles" over your eyes with your hands. If they look at you they have to immediately lay down on the ground and then can get back up. It doesn't matter where or when it happens they have to lay down on the ground immediately. It's a cruel and heartless game, perfect for camp. :D

I'm gonna try and get it started this summer. Imagine the fun of nailing someone during lunch or at an activity!

I forgot to mention that you can protect yourself from getting nailed by making the goggle eyes yourself. That is the only way to be safe.

That's almost like they game I learned to play from Malcolm in the middle, except you make an O-shape with your hand and you have to have your hand below your waist. If the person looks then you are supposed to give them a dead arm! Not camp appropriate!

Actually knowing some of the people who are returning this summer it might actually go down well with the staff! I can just see it in the dining hall - especially during a busy session when the hall is packed to capacity!

Our camp has something sort of similar to the last couple of games mentioned here that we play in the dining hall. One counselor puts a finger on their nose, as the other counselors and CITs notice they have to do the same. The last person to notice has to get up in front of everyone a act out something of the rest of the staffs chosing. The best we've had was a hyper-actuve flamingo pitching a circus tent in the rain.

We used to use the finger on the nose thing to decide how people got to do the grotty jobs for example if we ended up with a staff table in the dinning hall - who would hop and scrap etc!

Yeah, we use the finger on nose as a "not me!" as well. I catch myself doing it ALL the time at home, but no matter how many times I try to teach people they never catch on!!
