So I'm looking for devotion type lessons, skits, stories, that look at caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility. Anybody have any thoughts, ideas, or lesson plans?

Dr Suess actually works really well for moral messages. The Sneeches and the Loax are good ones.

We did this one thought of the day this year that was based off of this one book. But I can't for the life of me remember what it's name was.

It was about this guy who made wooden people and when he was gone they would come to life. They would give each other stars if they thought someone else was good at something and black dots when they were not. Well this one character never had a star and he felt bad. So he went to talk to the doll maker and asked why this other wood person didn't have stars or black dots stick to her. The doll maker said it was because she did not care what other people thought of her.

It was quite a good TOD. If anyone knows the story do you know the name of the series of books? They were all good and had messages to them.

Punchinello & The Wemmicks by Max Lucado is the series. I think the specific book you're talking about it "You Are Mine".
I love the books! They're great for Devotion discussions!

yeah thats it! It was the coolest TOD of the summer that and the person reading the story accedently slipped with a cuss word.... everyones mouth dropped. But becides that it was so pretty cause we had soft music playing in the background and my brother wore tights and looked like peter pan. ha ha

Camp Cullen Feek, do you by chance go to the camp cullen in TX? I know people who used to work OE there.

Thanks for all of your ideas and suggestions! We are using Chicken Soup but for our Night Devos we have this time in the morning that we call Reflections and we're trying to make that part better! I'd never thought of Dr. Suess I think that I like that idea! We also used the Wemmicks stories but we're a little afraid that our returning campers might need something fresh.....thanks again!!!

I look at the antics of Red Green for idea of team building skills, and the many uses of ductape.
