THis looks like a great site, but a quiet forum! I'm a Beaver leader with Scouts Canada (we don't use 'boy' scouts anylonger as we are open to both boys and girls :p ), that's Scouts ages 5-8.

Who are YOU and what do you do?

Welcome ScouterJames,

I am from California and I have many different volunteer positions with Girl Scouts. I am a co-Leader, Camp counselor, Product sales manager and Chair of our 40th camp reunion.

I bet you have your hands full with both girls and boys at that age!

I am a Girl Guide (UK version of Girl Scouts) leader. I have recently returned after being away for a few years and am currently helping out with a unit who are having a few problems. In September I am stating a brand new unit with an old school friend.

That sounds fun Laura - I am working with my old brownie unit - the one i went to when i was brownie and working with the person who was guider when I was a guide - she has taken over the brownies until one of us gets our ALQ finished!

Argh! - ALQ can be a nightmare. I don't mean its really hard or anything but it takes time and it seems to take people ages to sign stuff off. I got mine in 2004. I was bag packing today with the whole division. We were raising funds for - wait for it - the centenary in 2010!

Yeah ALQ is a nightmare - eeek I meant to call my mentor today! am about half way through mine!

Sounds like a fun day! We are currently raising funds (we need like £1 million) for a new activity center they want to build to replace the blair guide camp hut thingy we currently have - have you ever been there! I dont think we have even thought about the centenary celebrations other than to have a committee!

I don't know yet how much we have raised.
I've never been to The Blair camp hut but I have heard of it.
I think the committee here has been running since 2005!

Cool - I think we are going there for a brownie overnight just before I head to camp! But I think it is getting repainted before then!
