I see a few questions here and there from counselors about what to expect when they get to camp. We send a pre-camp manual to all staff a few weeks before arrival. Heavy weight topics, such as emergency procedures, professional issues and youth protection, are passed out and added to the manual during inservice.
Care to share what's in your staff manual?

Here's a table of contents from our pre-camp manual

We had things like age group characteristices and planning etc in this years one as well as the history of the Girl scouts. In the past I have had manuals with all sorts of games, recipe ideas and favourite camp songs - all which have come in useful over the years.

Ours had a huge section on behaviour management and CPI (restraining a child.) There was some detailed information on some of the conditions the campers have like ADD/ADHD, Aspergers, Bi Polar, Tourettes etc.

There was also some of the games we play like capture the flag and three times around the house.

hmmm you know i don't think i have ever seen our whole staff manual? we have one, and they give it to new staff, but most of the things in it we learn during orientation anyway and if you were a camper at our camp, you know how it works for the most part...and anything you don't know, you ask! i know that sounds really bad, but i can't believe i have never seen it...and i am a fine counselor haha.
