This is the first edition of our monthly newsletter. The newsletter will always include the five most active threads, your stats, the forum stats, some announcements, and in the future we'll also include an article or two.

INTRODUCTION

First off, I'd like to thank you for reading our newsletter! By reading this you can keep up to date with our community. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the link at the bottom.

NEW FEATURES
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have installed many new features on our website this past month. Some of them include:
o A journal system
o User pages (you must have 25+ posts to gain access to this feature)
o Links directory
o Staff application
o A camp survey
o Many other less important features
We're always looking to improve our website. If you want to request a feature to be added, go to our Site Chit-Chat forum and post a thread there asking for the feature.

THE 25+ POST COUNT REQUIREMENT
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
As you read under the new feature section, the User Pages feature requires you to have 25+ posts before gaining access to creating your own user page. Just so you know, there are plans to implement a few more features with this requirement. But this isn't happening just yet, so the only feature you need 25 posts to gain access to is the User Pages.

FORUM REARRANGEMENTS
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are plans to rearrange the forums in the coming weeks. This may or may not happen. What we are talking about is changing the Specific Camp Counseling category to a forum under the General Camp Counseling category. All the forums underneath this forum (day camp, overnight camp, etc.) will become subforum of the Specific Camp Counseling forum. This would make the forum home less cluttered. Then as these subforums gained activity, the Specific Camp Counseling forum would be made into a category again.
If this were to happen, no posts would be lost, and there would be no downtime. The move would be complete after about 30 seconds. The same would go for moving the forum back to a category.
I want some feedback on this from our members. Feel free to state your opinion in the Site Chit-Chat forum. If a majority don't want this to happen, it won't be done. But if no one speaks their opinion, then the change will be made.

NEW STAFF
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have increased our staff count by about three thus far. We have brought in one moderator and two writers.
speedx5xracer is our new moderator. He moderates the new Problem Solving Techniques forum. If you have any questions about that specific forum, please direct your questions to him.
camper and collissimon have been added to our staff as Writers. You can expect some informative articles coming from them. Also, in future editions of our newsletter, we will include exclusive articles that won't be posted on the site. They'll only be available here. They are currently working on some articles to be reserved for future newsletters. So always check out this newsletter for our latest articles.

STAFF APPLICATIONS

If you want to join the staff, you're more than welcome to! Simply fill out the form located at http://www.talkcamp.com/application.php . Right now only the writer and promoter positions are available. The application will be updated as new positions become available (and as other aren't available). Currently, we're looking for one more writer, as well as two or three promoters.

IRC
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
We might get an IRC channel in the future. I'll explain how this will work when we get some definite plans. But for now, there's a website who's offering channels on their network (along with any bots). Unless we can save some money and buy our own IRC server, this our only option. The problem is that many people aren't very familiar with IRC and won't be willing to download an IRC client. The only solution to this would be to install a java chat version of our channel on the website. Unfortunately, our current host doesn't allow this. So until we move to another host, either only people who have IRC clients can use our channel or we just won't have one at all. I'll have to talk to the webmaster of the other site about this. Check back to the announcements forum for updates.

MILESTONES

Over the past couple weeks, we have reached many milestones. Some of them include 500 posts, 100 threads, and 50 members. I'd like to thank all of you for helping us reach these beginning milestones! Hopefully one day we'll reach even higher milestones.

OUR POTENTIAL
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Our community has a lot of potential. But that means nothing without your help! If you want to help us grow, please visit our forums and create threads. Make a lot of posts as well. The more posts we have, the more fun we can have!
Also, get your friends to sign up. For every member you refer, you get 100 Karma points! As mentioned before, the Karma system isn't very exciting right now, but in the future when it becomes a lot of fun you'll be glad you made those recruitments.
