View Full Version : Music & Camp
Do you bring a CD player, MP3 player, or something that plays music to camp? I bring a CD player because it's the only way I can survive the bus rides every day without pulling my hair out. And of course the kids on the bus are always asking to listen. So I'd tell them they could listen, but they'd have to listen to what I was listening to, not what they wanted to listen to. (I was always listening to Boston.) By the end of the summer they were all little Boston fans! It was the funniest thing. :laugh2:
Your turn.

I brought a CD player to camp that I shared with my campers and the barn, and then I also had a little MD player that I kept in the staff room to listen to after we talked, but before I fell asleep.

I brought my I-pod and speakers for the bunk. I always played Bowling For Soup, KISS and 80s metal for the kids in my bunk, Its was great in the bunk i had my kids singing Rock 'n Roll all night and We're Not Gonna take it. It was even funnier when they started singing Last Call Casuality (BFS) in front of a director

When I was a counselor I had my CD player at camp. Now I only have time when I am driving...

it used to be cd players when i was a camper, now i bring my ipod speakers. they take up a lot less space and are really easy. we take turns putting everyone's ipods in them...campers and counselors. i always remember becoming a fan of whatever music the counselor happened to listen to dave, funny that you mentioned that. last summer one of my girls had a lot of music from the jewish singer debbie friedman on her ipod and we all became obsessed, haha.

Yeah, although I never actually have time to listen to it! There's always someone who brings their stereo along, though.

we had 3 cd players/radios in the cabin i stayed in! it is quite interesting to find out everyone's choice in music (even campers). i have to say one of the funniest things were these 12 and 13 year old girls singing queen. we hadnt listened to any queen that week either. however i have a cd of theirs and so that made them pretty happy.

yeah someone told us to look at rick recht for our camp, but we run out of nights for the good evening activities that we have as it is! haha!
That's too bad because it was a pretty good concert. He sold CDs and everything. :P

I bring my mp3 player with me for my time off, but i don't take it to the cabin, the campers are not allowed to have cd players or anything like that. We have a CD player at the pool and the lifeguards choose the music, there was a lot of Jack Johnson this summer! and we have some CD players in the Program Warehouse to use for dance parties.

I only bring my CD walkman...but I hardly ever use it. My co-counselor and some campers bring their ipos speakers & we take turns putting different ipods in them...it worked out nicely. And thankfully the girls pretty much have the same taste in music as I do. :)

There are so many things that you can use music for during the summer. I don't know if I could have done without it when I was a counselor.

OMG yall I LOVES me some Jewish Music!! haha! Debbie, Rick, Dan.. what can I say, we're all on a first name basis! Rick Rech and Danny Nichols both come to my camp. Also Billy Jonas frequently comes too- but he's not really Jewish music-
I've always brought my CD player to camp and my IPOD- not all the kids have IPODs yet cause they are young so I bring the CD player so they can listen to their music when they want to. They just have to ask if they want to use my CDs but I don't care if they use my stereo. Camp just wouldn't be the same without constant music everywhere!
