For all of those people who work at day camps, when does your camp day begin and end?

We begin at 10:00 in the morning and end at around 4:00 in the evening. But since my particular bus ride is an hour and a half, I leave the house at 8:15, and I don't get home until after 5:30.

So what are your hours?

Activities start at 9:30, and buses leave between 3:50-3:55. I'm usually on my bus though between 7:30-7:40, and get home around 5:30.

campfriend when I worked at day camp my day was about as long as yours. I worked before and after care so I always got to camp a 7:00AM to greet the early drop offs and give out breakfast and run early activities. Camp started at 9:00AM and ended at 4:00. After care was over at 6:00 but occasionally it would run a little before or a little after. I was authorized to drive kids home if their parents didn't arrive by 6:00, but I really hated to do that because they either would live out of the way or the someone might not be at the house so I would generally wait around. The lastest I think I ever had to wait was like 6:45. But usually most of the kids were gone at or before 5:00PM.

I dont work in the overnight section of camp but I do have interactions with the day camp ppl. I think their day starts at 7:30 (thats when campers start arriving) and ends around 5:30 or 6:00. I think it was helpful for staff that all but one of them stayed (slept) at the camp.

The times that I work are just when the kids are at camp. I still do work after they are gone. I get to spent half my time on the phone with parents at the end of the night. I love to be the director!

I work in a day camp that starts at 9:00am and goes to 4:00pm. the parents are responsible to bring there kids to the site. Oh the camp is run through the town and it is mainly only local kids, but it has over 600 kids on any given day and over 60 staff. So we run it through the local school building.

The year I worked at day camp, that was part of a res camp the kids arrived between 7.30 and 8.00 am and stayed until 7.30-8.00pm - the parents dropped and collected the kids and they ate all 3 meals on camp with the res camp. We only had a max of 15 kids between the 2 groups cos the camps main focus was its res camp.

We run day camp and resident camp simultaneously. Day camp is from 9:00-4:30 but you can drop off as early as 7:30 and pick up as late as 5:30.

Im not a day camp counselor but the camp I work at is a joint day/resident camp. Day camp starts at 9 and ends at 4, they have a pre/post camp creche type thing which starts at 7.30 and ends at 5. I think during the sessions where day camp have overnight sessions the campers end earlier on the Friday and have a parent closing circle at 3-3.30.

The day camp I worked at this summer ran from 9 to 4. We did open at 8 in the morning, though, and most of the kids came at 8 because that's when the buses arrived. We also stayed open until 5, but usually it was only a handful of kids who took the later bus home or got picked up late. We don't ride the buses with our kids, because the bus service is run by the city (it's the same one they use during the winter for school. The kids come from all over the city and neighboring towns, as it's a school for kids with mental disabilities).

We only had scheduled activities between 10 and 3. But all the staff worked 9 to 4, at least.

Days don't start and end unless it's drop off or pick up ;) As a Counsellor it's full time job even at night if kid gets up!
When on maintenance 8 - dark or Kitchen it's 8 - 8 or whenever complete!

our hours are 7a-6p., but main day activities are 9a-4p. I typically work 8-5p., but like any camp so many hours invested! There are three shifts of staff working throughout the day.

I'll be starting the day this summer at 7:45 with a group leader meeting. The camp day for the kids starts at 8:15. My day will end about 3:45 or so.

Great question! We provide transportation, and our buses pick up kids between 8 and 9, then arrive at camp for the start of the day by 9:30. We depart camp between 3 and 3:30, and the last child is dropped off by 4:45 pm.

Wow... I feel lucky. We go 8:30-3:30 with extended care til 5:30. Campers will start being dropped off around 7:45 or 8 though. We do have a sleepover at the end of the week where the kids come at 5:30pm and stay overnight and are picked up at 8am the next morning. Luckily I don't have to stay overnight though. It' be way too many hours on the paycheck.
