I have a group of 8 2nd grade girls. We are trying to decide on a name for our group but the girls keep arguing over it. There's always 1 or 2 girls who don't like the name and then end up crying over it. Any ideas on how to choose one so no one gets upset? Is voting a bad idea?

Well when you have a group like that I would say they will never all fully agree on it! What names are they? Is it possible to mix them as a compromise? maybe if u go with majority rules this time say to the others that they also had good ideas but you can use theirs next time maybe! OR you can say put the names in the hat and one picked out is the one being used! Have you got the final say?

I was also going to suggest mixing, Jenny! We do a lot of "Pink Elephants!!" and "No no!! Orange unicorns!" Then we end up with "Pink Unicorns". Lol. I often act really excited and tell them I have the prefect name that combines BOTH their ideas!! And isn't that fair and wicked cool??? Generally, they'll go for it.

one way to do it from the start is to have everyone write down an adjective on one paper and a noun on another paper. put them in a hat, keeping the nouns seperate from the adjectives and then draw one of each.

When picking names I go by TMM (TV, Music, and Movies) as basic idea starters. I try to make it as relavant to team work as possible. Some names that came up that I thought were pretty cool were:
The Fellowship (Lord of the Ring)
Cobra (GI Joe)
Kong (King Kong)
Dukes (Dukes of Hazzard)
American Pie (Don Mc'Lean)
Monkees (Music band)
The Knights who say "Ni". (Monty Python)
(Your results my vary.)
