Hey,
I am working as a lifeguard this summer. I was wondering is there anything special that I should make sure to bring.
Thanks.

yeah - good idea - nurturing beaver lost the keys to the boat house in 2001 when campers over turner her kayak and the lanyard clasp was released.

She panicked cos her only inhaler at camp was locked in the baot house, the cousellor at the time was too busy playing at rescue diver to take control of her girls who were randomly diving for the keys. I eventually swam out and took control of the situation - sending the all but the strongest swimmers and the counsellor to shore, send 2 of my girls to the office to get the spare key for the site manager (the ad staff were more likely to know where he was) and after continuing to look for the keys for few more mins headed every back to shore. Unfortunately there were no spare keys so they had to remove and replace the lock.

I spent a summer as lifeguard....make sure you have several swimsuits...2 pice tnakins worked well when you were straight off to lunch as often it meant you only needed to change your bottoms as my top was usually dry being in shallowish water. Clip borad and pens very useful, i got them in walmart. Whistle useful two although i ended up with a couple as they gave us one. Tevas or water shoes also a must. Several towel for when some are already wet (although i bought extra cheap ones in walmart) sun glases are good because of the sun reflecting on the water, lots of sunscreen, if you wear glases get oen of those sports cords to hold them on...or you send the campers to pick them up for you!! Ummm i think thats about all. Oh a peaked hat is good. And umm i think thats about it. Oh a water pistol is good fun too. And one word of warning...my first summer i was employed as a lifeguard but when i got there i found i was actually teaching swimming lessons too. Had never taught swim before and loved it, the other staff were really helpful :-)
