Ahh Angel_Jenny how you made me laugh just then!! That was a good post!
I only said it as a joke :D
I just had a vision in my head of all these staff and just one camper looking at about 50 staff ahahaha!

Yep we both set off on our journeys this monday. Hers is a little longer than mine I think.
I think she has more to do before she's out of the country whereas all I have to do is drive along the M4 to heathrow, wait 3 hours and I'm out.

Yes, you are right Chris. I need to get the train from Glasgow to Manchester where I am staying over night because I need to check in at 6.30am.

Incidentally, who's heard of MegaBus? Did you know there is now a MegaTrain? Well, I booked through MegaTrain(same website as MegaBus) but it is actually a Virgin train.

Angel_Jenny
05-25-2007, 08:36 PM
Thats cool! I heard of Megabus and was tempted to use it but then decided will use it when I don't have much baggage etc because it's supposedly not very comfy! They have it in the US too according to website! Never knew about train though!

I used MegaBus alot when I lived in Inverness before I passed my driving test. The buses were always brand new. Ok, they don't have a toilet on board, but I would never use a toilet on a bus anyway.

Smudge
05-26-2007, 10:41 AM
I have used Megabus - it is ok but I wouldn't use to travel to or from London cos the coach station they use is sooooooo sketchy cos it isn't the main victoria bus station.

I am staying at an airport hotel when I fly too cos I have a 6.10am check, ICK.

I've "mega-bussed" it to London from Bristol before. Wasnt bad at all and neither was the station in Victoria but this was during the day time so I dont know what its like in the evenings/late at night.
It was more of a mega "coach". It had toilets and everything but the seats had no leg room.
I havent done the mega train yet, but there's only 2 trains a day I think. From my city anyway. And the one coming home from London leaves London before the one TO London has arrived. So you can't ever "Mega-train" it to London and back in the same day.

Good Luck with your early check-ins, Smudge and Laura!
Mines a nice plumpy time of 1pm. Which is in exactly 36 hours as of me typing this.

Yeah, thats right rub it in - but at least it means that I am arriving in boston at a reasonable time of day, and hence getting to camp at a reasonable time - hopefully while it is still light so that I can explore it while eating the ice-cream sandwich that will be waiting for me when I get to camp as payment for the games file I have compiled and am giving a copy of too my friend when I get to camp.

05-26-2007, 09:17 PM
Sorry Smudge, am I making you jelous cos my counter is down to ONE DAY!!!!!
Ice cream sandwich sounds good to me.
I've not tried it but I have had a curly wurly sandwich before.
The bread kinda ruined it.

Smudge
05-26-2007, 09:21 PM
Yes you are but it isn't long until I go to camp.

An Ice-cream sandwich is great - it is vanila ice-cream between 2 layers of chocolate sponge that is more like biscuit than sponge. They are GOOD! specially when you haven't had one for 3 years.

these.city.lights
05-26-2007, 09:27 PM
No you've only got just over 2 weeks left!
Enjoy the wait! The excitement is great!

Ice cream sandwiches! I'm going to have me one of those!

Smudge
05-26-2007, 09:33 PM
At the moment I am gonna need every one those days i have been now and when I leave to finish my mending (or should I say for my mum to finish it cos I can't see well enought to do it), to complete some cards I have been commissioned to make and other stuff I need to do, oh and I get to go and see my baby nephew next weekend for the first time.

these.city.lights
05-26-2007, 09:35 PM
Ohh its all happening now!
I quite enjoyed the "rush" towards the end of my wait.
I had a lot to do and yeah so maybe I didnt get it all done but it sure was fun to keep me busy.

Smudge
05-26-2007, 09:43 PM
Yeah - I plan to keep as busy as possible cos otherwise i will stress about losing things or leaving them at home (my second year at camp I packed a single pair of socks - but that was my mothers fault - she was hoovering and eventually took over cos of course I can't possible know what I am doing etc and didn't pack them).

these.city.lights
05-26-2007, 09:47 PM
One pair of socks?! :O
I packed 10!
Wow yeah I'd really worry that I'd be on the plane and then my heart just stop cos I've forgotten one REALLY important thing.
Something thats almost stupid to have forgotten.

Smudge
05-26-2007, 09:51 PM
what like you passport?

that is the kind of thing i would do! That is why I use lists - if I can ever get around to writing this years.

laurathistle
05-27-2007, 07:18 AM
Well I check in at 6.30am, fly at 10.30pm, land in Minneapolis at 16.50pm (Us time) get two buses that will get me to Duluth at 22.10pm then a van to take me to camp, but I don't know how long that will take. alls I know is that it will be dark and feel like 6am my time by the time I get to camp!

Have you ever had a maxiboine (sp) ice lolly? Is it like that?

these.city.lights
05-27-2007, 07:33 AM
Arr thats a long day, Laura!
Luckily my journey tomorrow only consists of:
3 hour drive
3 hour wait
6 hour flight
1 hour drive

Actually putting it that way my day seems pretty long. Especially that 3 hour wait! Not as long as your journey, though, laura.
Are you going to be posting on talkcamp through-out your summer?

Smudge
05-27-2007, 07:53 AM
Laura i have never had one of those ice-lolly things you were talking about so can help you I'm afraid - all I can suggest is you try one when you have a chance!

I hope that both your flights go well.

05-27-2007, 07:55 AM
I hope that both your flights go well.

Thanks Smudge! So do I! I've not been on plane since 2001 so dont know whether I'm going to be a little worried.

Smudge
05-27-2007, 08:03 AM
I am sure it will be fine - you are less likely to be involved in an plane accident/inncident than you are in a car or walking. Since 9/11, and more so since 7/7 and the incident last year they have been working really hard to make air travel even safer. I have flown loads of times since 9/11 and have never had a problem!

these.city.lights
05-27-2007, 08:10 AM
No its not that I'm worried about.
Its just the whole taking off thing. Some people are scared of flying in general. I doubt I will be. I'll be LOVING it if anything.

Smudge
05-27-2007, 08:22 AM
Ah.

The only thing I don't like about flying is the landing but that is cos I get terrible ear pain (even when I use ear planes I get some pain).

But other than that I love flying - specially with Virgin cos you get loads of choices of what to watch, a goody bag and the food is OK (I have nothing to compare it with cos they are the only company I have ever flown long haul with).

these.city.lights
05-27-2007, 08:24 AM
I'M WITH VIRGIN!!
Do I get a tv in the headrest? Can I fiddle with it and change what I watch?

Smudge
05-27-2007, 08:34 AM
Yes you can. You will prob have 4 movie channels with 2 diff movies on each, music channels, commedy, kids and games, and radio channels. And a cool thing that lets you keep track of the flight.

And you get a goody bag with an eye mask, ear plugs, notepad, pen and toothbrush, plus a charity donation envelope for any change you have in your wallet (nearly typed purse!)

these.city.lights
05-27-2007, 08:36 AM
I may have a purse! You never know!
Wicked! the flight sounds awesome!
Although I should talk to the person next to me for a bit haha!
Dont want to be rude now do i!

Smudge
05-27-2007, 08:40 AM
No you dont - but you will prob be sitting by other people going to camp so you will so busy talking about your diff camps that you will not think about the movies until the first one is first is hald over.

05-27-2007, 11:22 AM
hehehe I was reading all these posts I missed and was thinking an ice-cream Sandwich sounds like half the Maxibon but Laura beat me too it!! So yes Laura you're right lol :D

I flew with Virgin last year and u can even pause the film when u go to the loo lol! I had a front seat so lots of legroom and was next to window which I like :D! The 2 people sat with me didn't talk and I gave up after a while because it was like pulling teeth! Hope it's better this year hehe though I managed to keep myself entertained! One of them slept alot of journey and the other was an old man and I'm sure he managed to read the same Newspaper the WHOLE flight hehe so hopefully u have more luck!

Smudge
05-27-2007, 12:35 PM
WOW he is a slow reader!

I have usually ended up sitting beside some interesting people.

these.city.lights
05-27-2007, 05:33 PM
Ahh I cant wait for the flight.
I'll seriously be fiddling with the TV screens the entire way.
Purposly going to the toilet even when i dont need it just so i can pause it!

Smudge
05-27-2007, 06:08 PM
