Hello,
I was wondering if any one new of good programs to start in the waterfront in a GS camp. They would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, if anyone knew of any activities to do in the pool or lake, I would love to know them. :D

Welcome to the site :)
We have beach partys each week and do alot of games using the water ;) had one where you have a few teams and first from each swim out to certain parts with a bucket (any means), fill it up on way back and pour it over the next person! Then they go and so on...
Water polo is fun! Have the counsellor on either side of designated area and 2 teams throwing the beachball to eachother trying to get points for their team by hitting the opposite counsellor!!
After being stood still in cold lake for a while you freeze though so I would sometimes duck ;) :-p Oh yeah thats if you don't have posts hehe

At my last camp the girls would make rafts to sail on the lake. They would also have floating picnics where they would take a picnic out to the floating dock.

Our girls like to have drive thru meals - this is where the staff fix the meals and the girls paddle the canoes up to the dock and we hand them their meals.
They also LOVE swamping

Greased watermelon is sooooooooo much fun I love it.
Also the swim cap game - where you see how many people you can fit into a swim camp by using the water to stretch it out.

I love the drive-through meals idea. I'm totally going to do that next summer.
A friend of mine has sleep-outs on pontoon boats at the camp he works at. All the kids wear PFD's and the pontoon boat has a gate, so it's very safe. They are tied up to dock so restroom runs are not an issue. The kids really love it.

I like the drive through idea too - may have to try that too
I thought I would bump this up to see if any one has any more ideas....
I would love to know some games or ways to make row boating and what we call fun boating (fun yaks, fun bugs, and paddle boats) a little more fun.

For boats get a ball and play dodge ball. "It" throws the ball at another boat. If they hit the boat the other boat is it, or they have to retrive the ball and try again. It encourages kids to practice stearing and it can be very useful on small lakes were there's not a lot of room to do otherthings. It also helps to flatten the ball a bit so it's easier to grab with one hand.
For the pool having younger kids act like animals in the water is good. Have them do crocodile wrestling with pool noddles have judges to choose winners based on creativity.

We have a game called "Water World". We start on different end of the lagoon, and attack. We flip each others inner tubes until the last 2 people are left floating. Then the last one standing on the team wins, then we go again.

Oh that sounds fun - we got a load of tubs at the end of last summer - might have to see if I can try that this summer!
