Hi, my name is Tina and this will be my first summer as a village head. This means that part of my responsibilities is leading village campfires about every other day. I feel like my camp tells the same stories and does the same things week after week and year after year. Id be interested in hearing other campfire stories (not ghost stories) and activities that other camps do at campfires

We sometimes read Tajar Tales at our campfires and get the staff members to play different characters each week. There is a lot you can do with them and we had a lot of fun with it.

We have a definate set up for our campfire. We have one when the campers arrive each week and one the last night (our session are week long)

We start off with a loud section, starting with the camp song followed by other songs - "Im glad I m a girl Scout" was a favourite last year with counselors taking on different roles. Each campfire is run by different counselors/specialists and has different themes, and linking sketches between songs. Themes we had last year were; Pirates (done by the waterfront staff with boats etc - our campfire circle is by a lake), Country bumpkins (done by counselors from IL), international campfire (done by internationals suprisingly!), mad scientist theme, story book theme, 80s theme (done by the ULs and went on longer then any other campfire ever - it was thelast week!) The CITs also do a campfire, cant remeber what one of the groups did but one did it in the form of a letter home, the Interns (CIT 2s) also did one but i can remember what that was either)

We then generally abandon the theme for the second part of the campfire which is the slow part, we sing theprettier songs in this section, and finish campfire with our camps slow song, the staff song and then the lullaby. Finally all the staff form 2 lines and sing the campers out with various slow songs.

welcome to the site!! I cant remember words to storys but if clarabell sees this post maybe she will help ;)! Two campfire stories I liked hearing was about chipamee (story gives reason why we now hav chipmunks) and the one that explains the night sky with a message of working together!

One campfire story I really like is the book "I Like You" by Sandol Stoddard Warburg, illustrated by Jacqueline Chawast. Generally, we would have it read or performed by two people trading off and sometimes we would act it out. It's a really cute, silly and fun book about best friends.

"I like you and I know why. I like you because you are a good person to like..."
