Hey everyone...we had our pre-visit yesterday and we realized we need a manual that is nothing but camp procedures.

Soooooo Give me your best procedure topics (Obviously you don't know our procedures, but topics to remind me of what we need)!!

For example, I already have check-in, absentee camper, dining hall at meal times, camp store.... etc

Thanks!

These are some we have in our school (a special needs primary) that could be relevant to camp. Some are more more relevant to staff than kids and some would only apply to a special needs camp.

data protection
child protection
anti bullying
whistle blowing
mini bus
nappy change and toileting
manual handling
targets
staff development
external services (physio therapist, occupational therapist)
fire drill and emergency evacuation
attempted snatch (by parent not in custody of child)
visitors
drugs, alcohol, solvents and banned substances
feeding (for children who require to be fed)
first aid
administering medicine
administering rectal drugs (to epileptics)
control of substances hazardous to health (coshh)
recording processes (like fridge temps and stuff)
aims, objectives and mission statement
equal opportunities
race equality
empowerment and normalisation
inclusion and integration

Good golly, I frightened myself there! I didn't even look any of that up! I can't believe how much I know about all that stuff! I guess I did do a double unit on it all......

These are great! I brainstormed with the director last night and we came up with two and a half pages... (granted, some of those, we later decided could be combined into one....or I was being funny and putting things like "When campers revolt and take over the entire camp, lord of the flies style")

Believe it or not, with about 2 pages of SERIOUS ones, there are still ones that we didn't have....wow. I have a big job :-)

Thanks! Keep them coming!

How about the procedures for each program area? Including waterfront, archery, nature, dining hall, trading post, all camp, etc.

Ours is called the camps written plan and outlines all procedural protocals like you are discussing...also camper to staff ratios during active and passive programming(see local BOH guidelines) severe weather instructions, fire and emergency plan, camps administrative chain of command structure, Job descriptions and certification requirements.

If you do cookouts that would be a good one. We our camp always loses tent stakes for example. You might want to include some guides to vegetarian cookout options.
