Hey,

A few of the British staff, and perhaps others, will be attending the compulsary pre-departure orientations coming up soon in the next 2 weeks or so.

I will be going to the one in Cardiff.

Just posting to see if anyone (Collisimon?) can give us a little insight into what happens at these meetings?

Thanks!

I went to the one in Newcastle and was told they are basically the same! we were all sat in a big room and someone split us into groups where we were sat! Each 'team' were given a topic eg alcohol and we had to come up with a song and several questions we wanted to know about our topic (was quite fun ;) ) then we each performed and asked the questions with the person at front giving answers! We were able to ask more questions that we wanted then had a couple of other people who have done camp before to tell us some of their experience then someone came and spoke about trek america with pictures! not sure if yours will be the same actually now I remember u not doing it through camp america but that was what happened for me!

Thanks Angel Jenny.
I'm sure it will probably be basically the same.

There really needs to be a CCUSA dedicated forum like the one Camp America have on their site.

I went to the CCUSA one in cardiff last year and it was nothing like what was described above! We sat in a big room, listened to some guy talk abou Trek for what seemed like a long time (especially seeing as I already knew i wasnt going on one cos of the price) and then listened to the CCUSA staff talk about stuff. It was all pretty dull/static and nothing like what was described by angel! There was a lot of powerpoint presentations with photos from the trek guy.

Maybe theyve changed this year though

My 'Preparation day' is on Saturday. I don't know what to expect but they will probably pushing Trek America heavily. They did that at the Directors Fair I went to in Liverpool in January. Bah! Wasted on me as I am going on a Contiki tour.

All my accomodation and meals are paid for during the 4-5 days I'm in NYC for.

yeah that would make sense angel/jenny!
Not saying it wasnt useful or interesting, plus it was camp related so thats always good it just wasnt "fun". plus i was insanely ill that day, was drugged up to the eyeballs on various drugs, couldnt talk and had spent three hours getting there, followed by three hours back. So it may be entirely possible that i blanked out a lot of it!

Not a lot stopping me from going now!!!
