Has anyone every done a modifed version of color wars? My camp is 6 one week sessions. I was looking for some ideas on how to do that in one week.

This is totally off topic, but I just realised what camp you work at coach. I met a girl while I was in Belfast last week where we were both getting our visa and she is coming to work at your camp. All I know is her name is Laura (same as me) and she is from Ayrshire, Scotland. I think she said she will be working with horses at camp. Small world!
Doh, I should have got her e-mail address and got her hooked on Talk Camp!
we do a modified one during out 3 two week sessions. We split up the camp into 4 different teams each team has a staff captan who is fit enought to run with every different child.
Any who we do a relay race and the baton is a match so each kid on the team has to do different things ex shoot a bullseye, canoe to a bouy and back, eat crackers and whistle a song with the match on them, at the end they must give the match to another counsleor who must build a fire using the match. If they break camp rules or use more then one match they get points deducted.

We have one-week sessions as well, but instead of doing one-week color wars, we've done one-evening versions. The entire camp was divided into groups, which designed their own flags, made up chants for their teams, and competed against each other. The last time we did it, everything was very fast-paced and intense. The entire thing probably lasted a few hours, at most, but it was the most memorable event that week.
We've done canoe races, obstacle courses, mini kick-ball games, and a few other things. I love the fire-building contest, Melk.
I don't have any experience with 'traditional' week-long color wars, mind. I'd love to hear about it from the people who've seen one before.

our color war is only 4 days long but that's still way too long for your camp coach...i would just make it a 1 day/1 evening thing like others have suggested! you really could have whatever events you want!

You could make it into an all camp event and have it go one for a whole day, or you could designate an entire afternoon or evening.
